After just listening to Gerry Taggart on WAB web podcast, it was mentioned on there that he was a reds legend, i think i would agree.. but that got me thinking of how many legends do we really have.. Does legend status come through long service, ie Bobby Hassell, or does it come from being a exceptional player ie Ronnie Glavin. or does it come from a moment in history ie Harry Tufnell Racking my brains most of night here is my selection Ronnie Glavin Neil Redfearn Danny Wilson Gerry Taggart They are others you could include Bobby Hassell, John Hendrie, Clint Marcelle, Ashley Ward, Steve Agnew, Mick McCarty But i would consider those to be more club icons than legends.. Then you have players like Nicky Eaden, Brian Howard, Ian Banks, Steve Cooper, all great in there own way but not legends or icons...
top post ponty. i'd say legendary status would be such as harry tuffnell and the fa cup win, danny wilsons dream team, clint marcelle's goal, cec mcormacks goal record, brian howards goal at liverpool, kayodes goal against chelsea, kayode's miss at wembley. as you say not necessarily icons of the club rather icons of achievements or moments.
Kevin Donovan - A Legend at being gash. Serious answer = Arjan de Zeeuw, Darren Barnard, Gary Fleming, David Currie, Barry Murphy, Arthur Fairclough, John Dennis, Norman Rimmington, and of course, Bobby Hassell and Hillcroft already
sorry whitey got to disagree with you there, much as i like hassel he's no legend neither arjan, barnard'currie or flemming as good as players they were, john dennis not for taking us into admin.maybe a case for murphy rimmo deffo.hillcroft maybe.
