Just been watching Aussie A League on sky and Perth Glory had a winger making the goal for them called Bertos , checked on google and it turns out to be our former Academy player Leo , looked better than Devaney even on the 5 minute highlights. Newcastle actually won a game as well (Knights) and have a handy Striker called Griffiths who is top scorer out there Simon? , the standard looks quite good too and the crowds at nearly all the games looked healthy.

Played a couple of games did Bertos, usually flattered to decieve. I remembering him scoring a goal in a 1-4 to Bristol City...*shudders*

Christian Roberts ran riot that day.

I'm a ST holder for sydney. I've seen Bertos quite a bit. He is good enough in this league and he does well. I reckon the standard is mid-div1 with some players who are Championship ready. Michael Bridges, Tony Popovicand Juninho laik for Sydney. Craig Moore for queensland. Wasn't Joel Griffiths at Leeds?. Stan Lazirides is also at Perth... he must be 37ish. Every team has got acouple that you may have heard of.

Bristol City have just signed Nick Carle from a Turkish club. I happened to run into him twice last year(07) both times I tried to get him to come to Barnsley. He said he couldn't get a visa for UK. bugger... watch for him and report back for me... David Carney, too, he was at Sydney and I thought he was good enough.

Crowds are about 12k but can get up 30k in melbourne fora syd/melb game which has a bearing at the top of the league.

Yes, I saw that he scored. I spoke to him when he joined sydney three years ago. He has a scouse accent though he was born in oz. I think his dad is a scouse. carney was at Everton in the youth teams with Rooney.

How can the standard be high when Bertos wasnt even good enough for York City?
