I really want to put that whole incident behind us now, what an embarassment. I just heard that we were willing to pay him £80,000 a year more than he is on at port vale. Not sure what he is one now, but he said we were offering nearly 2 and 1/2 times more than he was on now.
Maybe you were but at the end of the day it wasn't the money he was interested in, it is playing at a higher level, He stated that in the article. He could have said yes I suppose then if you do get relegated he could just take his foot off the pedal as at the end of the day you were paying him more money to play in the league he left.
I'm not embarassed cos he said no, I understand why, I am embarassed at the publicity at the Barnsley end. The website is always behind by about a week on any news...except this 'deal'. It was on the website last friday saying we has signed constantine with marc richards goin the other way, subject to both players agreeing to terms and passing medicals. We all know now that didn't happen and we've ended up with a new striker, a striker who doesn't think he is wanted anymore and a fanbase who are just given one more reason to be totally disillusioned and untrusting of a board in charge of our club!
Excuse me? He wants to play at an higher level? then he would come to us. Even if we might get relegated, Port vale wont get promoted... we are a bigger club, bigger fan base, better facilities. dont talk wet!
I can understand your point, as we were not given much info either, according to Sky Sport et al we were getting £200,000 plus Richards, yet according to the local paper it was £125,000 plus Richards, which considering the board said Leon was not going for less than £250,000, meaning according to our paper, Richards is worth as much as Constantine. In a round about way.
RE: Excuse me? You may have better facilities at the moment, but you are also in debt, we aren't, I facilities when finished will be excellent. And why go to a club that could get relegated back to where he came from, why not wait for another club who will be staying up. Also how do you know we wont get promoted, we have as much chance as you have of relegation.
No it doesn't It means Richards is worth half as much as Constantine!
Vale wanted £250k and agreed to Richards and £125k. That doesn't make them worth the same in any way, round about or otherwise.

What I meant was you were giving us £125 plus Richards, therefore if the two added together makes £250 with Richards worth £125 as well. See what I mean now.
Let me clear this up for you Constantine = Richards + 125k Constantine = 250k Therefore Richards = 125k And thus Constantine = 2 x richards
