Leon deal hinges on Richards Barnsley striker Marc Richards holds the key to whether Leon Constantine completes his move from Port Vale. The Tykes had a cash-plus-player offer for the 18-goal forward accepted by Vale, but although Constantine is expected to sign, Barnsley's Richards has yet to make his mind up about swapping Oakwell for Vale Park. Barnsley manager Simon Davey had been hoping to conclude the deal before his side's midweek FA Cup third-round replay with Southend, but has now given both players until the end of the week to make their minds up. "Both players have held talks and we should know more in the next day or so," Davey said.

If we really want Leon, Richards needn't come into it

I'd have thought we could could just put up the extra 80,000 & go ahead & sign him regardless.

    RE: Why though? nt

Why do we want to rid ourselves of the one forward who has physical presence just to take a gamble on Constantine ?

Remember, Richards up to being dropped by Davey had started every single game ( I think, stand correcting ) and as such, given he'd made the step up a division, probably needed resting, mentally as well as physically. Nads orHayes shouldpartner Richards, pref Nads with Hayes playing a deeper role - as we ended last season.Constantine can also pretty much dictate terms thanks to the transfer window system, so why we apparently seem to want so desperately to get him in i do not know. 3rd bottom and 4 points off safety is not the place to be gambling on a lower league striker to save you.

To be fair, he's shown he can score goals at a slightly lower level. He's not as big a gamble as Mattis. We're stuck with unproven loan signings from the Prem or okayish striekrs from Leagues below.

Thats right, give him stick for realising he is better with us than somewhere else.

Bet your one of the first to bleat on about pride in the shirt, kissing the badge and all that.
