BARNSLEY boss Andy Ritchie has revealed he expects to complete the signing of Welsh U21 international keeper Kyle Letheren on Thursday.

The youngster has impressed Oakwell this summer and has done enough to earn a permanent deal with the Club.

Speaking exclusively to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk, Andy said: "We will sit down with Kyle on Thursday and hopefully everything will be done then. He has done very well - we are delighted with him and he has impressed John (Lukic) as well during his time at the club.

"Kyle has a lot of potential and is the right age for us. We do not really have anyone at that sort of age and with his experience so he will be able to come in and do a job for us. I do not think he is quite ready to be number two but we will give him a year to see if he can develop as we hope.

"Hopefully there will be something more goalkeeper-wise on Thursday".

Not seen the lad play but apparently his kicking is dreadful according to reports on here.
Why then did Swansea release him if he is so good and has such a good future?

    It is, but

He was awful in the middslebro game, his kicking was awful at halifax and I believe he made an almighty **** up in the other game he played.

I fancy my chances of earning a contract, apparently 3 bad games will do it [IMG]

    RE: It is, but

He's only 18 tho, and Lukic reckons he's got potential so that'll do me...

im sure dodgy kicking can be worked on. decision making too. And Ritchie says he is not even sure he is ready for second choice so he is not fooling himself on this one. Tidman however? having never seen him play i can't comment but word of mouth is not good.

But how much is he rated?

Bearing in mind that even while he was here on trial and didnt have a club we were still trying to get someone else in on loan.

I wonder whether the original plan was to sign him as third choice goalkeeper.
