the football we are playing at the moment is *****, we avent the players to do well this season mid table finish and as for yesterdays game bad refereeing bad attendance bad football andwhy is it always the away support make the atmosphere, get rid of richie and get some decent playes in we wont survive on gates under 10k
Sacking the manager every half season is not the answer. We need to build a TEAM, consistency in the squad, camaraderie and positive morale. If a BFC player gets sent off it should be his team-mates who are critical and the team should bond together after a bad result. I have faith in Rich-tea and think he's a decent manager. Look where we are in the table, think how many games we still have to play - judge him in May.
I believe Ritchie is doing a good job under the circumstances The club have very little money. We can't buy our way to success. I had reservations when he was given the managers job, but so far he's doing OK. Our results and performances are an improvement on last season, which is as much as you can ask for. I don't think the football is sparkling, but we're a 3rd division club that can only attract 3rd division players. At least we're playing a system the players seem to understand and after years of watching a disjointed and unmotivated Barnsley team they now appear to be a cohesive unit who work hard for one another and take pride in their performance. The skill level is not fantastic, but like I say, we're a third division team. That's not to say everything is perfect. I'd question why we signed a player with a broken leg when the squad is down to the bare bones and money available for contracts is extremely tight. We needed players who were fit for the start of the season, not those who will miss half the season at best. In a similar vein, I'm far from convinced that the injury Howard suffered in training was a new injury and not the reoccurrence of the one that kept him out at Swindon. Then there's Devaney. How our staff could claim he is a left-winger when he is almost exclusively right footed is beyond me. Then again, how many managers have we had when you agree with all their decisions? For me, Ritchie will have been a success this season if he improves on the points we attained and the position in the league we achieved last season. I won't judge him on whether we achieve promotion or not. There's nothing I'd like more than us winning promotion, but at present I don't think the squad is up to it. Considering what Ritchie inherited and the funds he's had to play with I don't blame him for that at all. If Ritchie does continue to improve the team we will win promotion within the next few seasons. I hope its this season, and I'm not saying that’s beyond us, but realistically I don't think we're strong enough. But we've got to stick with Ritchie while ever the team are showing signs of improvement.
easy to say but before yesterday we were 6th. ritchie has limited budget to work with since we were raped by the hayes tribunal and he has to try and work a game plan with what we have and at the moment we haven't been doing too badly with hayes and conlon up front. after yesterday i think he'll play nardi wi conlon. Conlon does win some ball but nobody has the pace to be up there with him to feed off him. i really don't think we support our strikers quickly enough from midfield
Spot on. Sometimes you sound like you know what you're talking about, which feels so wrong on so many levels.
I just copy messages from other football forums And substitute the name of their team and manager for ours.
RE: I just copy messages from other football forums Hehe. Seriously, you pretty much summed up my feelings. Except the one for the Oriental lass in the thigh high boots I saw in town.
RE: easy to say Why don't we use Conlon as a holding midfielder? That'd give us more options and he'd be a threat from set-pieces. Our fourth striker could be one of the kids - presumably Jarman.
thought that think bazza may be too slow in midfield. might be worth a try. look at the qpr side from a few years back - central midfield all bruisers
Battling Barnsley Only last season under Hart - there were may lamenting the fact that we had lost that. This season its back. For all the faults in the side they are playing as a team and with pride. For getting that back alone Ritchie has earned the right to be given a decent go at the job. I also agree with everything else Jay says above, but actually think if we dont pick up too many injuries we can make the playoffs this season. problem is we are a bit lacking in cover if we get any other long term problems - starting the season buying crocked players seems at the moment to have been a mistake.
RE: thought that Look lets not all be as negative as Dirk. If Wednesday can go so can we. Fair do's to pay £22 for a part of the ground is over the top. I got tickets for the England Austria/Poland matches for just £3 more. Message to the board. Lower prices would get us better crwods and probably improve team morale at the same time with an improved atmosphere. How about a few games for a few quid in some time this season.
