All the euphoria that we are in the cup is great and its a welcome distraction from what has otherwise been a shambles of a season with in league terms pure tactical naivety on Daveys part.
It begs the question if we were not in the FA cup semi, how many of the happy clappy brigade would be calling for a change of manager even if we finish fourth from bottom, and if Mr Daveys is such a good aspiring young manager, why should our demise as a club be his "learning curve", if being a good manager of a team means finishing fourth from bottom then there is seriously something wrong with the meaning of the words good management.

    Davey out!

No this is pointless discussion until after Sunday. But I believe if we are relegated then he must be dismissed!

    I have spoken

with Mick McCarthy, Tony Pulis, Colin W, Paul Jewell and at great length with David Moyes about SD. They all have nothing but praise for him and assured me we have 'one of the best' in charge. Moyes in particular (understandably) spoke very highly of him; "outstanding" he said, but has to be given time. We "shouldn't lose him" was another memorable phrase. I'll stick with my own view that I think he's a very good coach, just not very adept at the man-management bit.

OK lets be realistic. In my opinion there are two major contributory factors in our poor league form.
    1. The loss of Anderson de Silva: This in my opinion was a massive blow, and has had a huge impact on the shape of the team and the football we play
    2. The cup run: Choose what anyone says the players have clearly taken their eye off the ball in terms of league matches. But in 'my opinion' this is only natural, given all the press coverage etc that the run has come with.
How many of us have been talking about the FA cup semi final for weeks and weeks now, whether it be the fiasco regarding ticketing arrangements or how we are travelling or where we are all going to meet (I shall be in the Green Man by the way!) It must be the same for the players as well (whether it should be is another matter). Its not like they are Premiership players who have a chance to play at Wembley every season, for them too it is a once in a lifetime achievement. WBA have gone six games with only 1 win since their cup quarter final as well, so its not just us being affected, although admittedly they are in a much stronger position than we are at the moment.
I personally think that we will beat Cardiff on Sunday and then go on to Watford absolutely buzzing and get 3 points there as well and that the lads can then concentrate on the league with the Final coming 2 weeks after the end of the season.
I know, I know my rose tint specs may need a polish and my glass is definitely always half full
    Rant over

i think the league position would have been better,, but for the injuries to de silva and muller,

though davey's main fault is his stubburness about the quality of our strikers.

    Nah we shouldn't sack him

I think it would be a mistake to sack him.

For me his main error was not to sign some good strikers. Even if we'd signed a knackered old forward who could notch 15 a season we'd be well clear of the drop by now.

Given that for the last 5-6 years we have had a **** defence, we now have one of the best defences we've had in ages, especially when Muller is fit.

Same with the midfield with a fully fit da Silva in it. Da Silva, Howard and Campbell-Ryce are three of the best midfielders we've had for years.

Sadly Mostto was gamble that didn't work, Ferenczi can't score, Christensen has been frozen out, and Odejayi might have looked the part in League Two but he's just not good enough for what we need. Macken is the best forward he's signed but has no one decent to partner him up front.

We could have been beaten at Anfield, Da Silva and Muller might not have done their ligaments and we'd be sitting comfortably in mid-table. I don't see what the club would gain from sacking Davey unless Jose Mourinho wants to get back into English football.
