It was interesting that the club said they would back the manager in January. I think this would mean loans and even full transfers. A problem we've got is that we are full on loans although some go at the end of the month. Would you keep Peterson and Ramage or give Wilson the chance to bring in 5 new loans of is own. Also do you think he should recall the players that are out on loan. At the moment RNL is the only one that can be recalled but the others can be recalled before the months out. Come on guys let's get talking about football, not me.
I think Danny's an experienced enough manager to be able to assess which of the contracted players can make a positive contribution and are willing to do so. That may include players who feel they've been left in the cold by the previous manager (eg., Nyatanga, RNL, Hassell, Digby, Jennings, Cofie, Dagnall). As I said on an earlier thread, everyone will start with a clean slate under Wilson. Hopefully, they'll make the most of the opportunity.
I think the squad is much stronger than results suggest. Flitcroft dismantled what he built, and turned a cohesive, attacking squad, into a fractured clueless rabble. Performances have been woeful this season. But I think that's more down to Flicker's madness. I don't think these players are anything like as bad as people currently make out. They're the same players that destroyed all the top teams last season. I don't think Danny has that much to do, to get us playing again, as long as he gets the right players in their right positions. I'm not expecting wholesale changes in Jan. If he chooses to stick with 4-4-2, we need at least 5 new players. 4-5-2 will send us down. I said it after the first game and I believe it now more than ever
We should sell the Rolls Royce in January. It costs too much to run and doesn't do a job. We'll get a few bob for scrap and save a packet on fuel.
Oops....obv meant 4-4-2, not 4-5-2! Breaching FA rules might send us down through a points deduction though
Be interesting to see who starts on Saturday - he won't have had much time to judge the players so it may just be down to Mellon this week (not necessarily a bad thing) Pedersen and ramage both seem like they could be quality to me - definitely keep them both on. Fox hasn't done much, but he's obviously got something about him to be so highly rated so lets see) Everybody should get a clean slate and that will be very interesting. Hope Cywka, Jennings (when he's back), RNL, Hassel, Scotland etc can step up to the plate I'm very excited.
Butland, fox and tudguy will be gone soon, personally would send ramage back if the loan agreement allows it happen and depending on formation possibly pedersen too. That gives danny 4 or 5 loans to play with plus any money he is given or generates. Also a big decision to made regarding mellis, do we risk letting him run his contract down and leaving for nothing or cash in on him in january. Personally i would take the risk as a top of his game mellis could be massive in us stopping up which will be worth more to us than a nominal transfer fee
I've said it before and people have disagreed but I still think the Sale of O'grady could be a good thing. Hes not done much without Flitcroft or Hill in his career so far and I think Barnsley could make a profit on him. I would send Pedersen back if we are saying him good wages. Ramage could go back because we have a lot of central defenders if he wants to keep McNulty. Personally I think we've got three good defenders in Cranie Nyatanga and M'Voto with the first two the ones I would choose in a 4 something something formation. Mcnulty or another centre back and we are filled there. Think the club should give Mellis another contract. Whatever we do in the summer he'll be wanted by another club anyway.
I'll leave it to Danny to sort out, with able assistance from Micky, Hecky etc. Everybody on here knows my two penneth on the players. I'm looking forward to going to Leeds and singing songs about Danny, Paddy and Bobby all afternoon. Not happy about paying £36 quid to that club, but r old boys bought it so that's no longer an issue. I'm not missing Danny's first match back. Should be a reight atmosphere.
I can only go on what was said in the conference, and I took it from that that Micky and Hecky were staying. I suppose Danny will recruit his own team eventually, but during the transitional phase it makes sense I think to retain them in the short term. I know he usually has Frank Barlow with him, and Peter Shirtliff, so wouldn't rule them out. I've heard a rumour that Nicky Eaden will be coming in at some point, but no idea as to what capacity that will be. He'd be ideal.
In fact, I've just seen on twitter a conversation between Jon Lucas and Mike Pollitt where it seems Lucas has had an offer to leave. I'm presuming to Bury? "Decisions decisions decisions" he said. I expected him and Wilcock to leave with Flicker and Proctor/Scott anyhow. We'll see I suppose.
get shut then. never a known a squad get so many injuries, and take so longer to recover. and don't even get me started on dale jennings...
I dont think there's much/any money for Danny to be honest so it might be fairly limited unless he does some wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.
Pedersen has had two moments of absolute class, both leading to goals. How he brought the ball down for that goal against Huddersfield was unreal. He's a tricky one though. I reckon he's actually a very good player that's not getting the service. Personally, I'd bring RNL back and get him on. Monitor Dagnall and McNulty to see if they're worth having back. Maybe they'd have something to offer under Danny? I still think Jennings needs time to develop at a lower level. Who knows though. Think Danny needs to assess them all individually and make his mind up, which I'm sure he will. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
