We have kept more clean sheets with Simon Davey in charge than we did with Andy and Rick and we have a better points per game ratio. We also have stability as the manager knows the players at his disposal and will know which ones are not good enough. Hopefully we will see some signings in January which will show that they aim to give it their best to stay in this league. Remember if we finish where we are now we are safe, that is what we are aiming for. Yesterday we were down to the bare bones. His biggest mistake yesterday in my opinion was not starting with Tonge in midfield alongside McCann. When you look at the 3 goals we conceded they were all cheap goals. Colgan should have saved the 1st one, RW should have cleared the 2nd one but just watched the ball and Kay dallied with the ball on the 3rd goal. All preventable and we would have been here talking about a 0-0 draw with the form team of the division whilst we were understrength ourselves. Also we dont actually know who applied for the Managers job anyway so all the names banded about on here may have been totally incorrect. I personally believe that we will stay up but that we do need the addition of 3/4 players minimum. A dominant defender would be good, a proper left back, another midfielder and a forward to replace Knight who I would send back to Swansea. I would also look to replace Colgan as his inability to come for crosses or command his area is starting to cost us more points than his wonder saves were gaining.
Problem is people knew we needed that list of signings way back, players have been brought in but failed to do the job needed. and, starting a poor quality left back in central midfield is a decision which was taken for reasons completely beyond anyone on here and you are a little quick to dismiss it I think because it was a fairly major error IMHO. However, you are right about the goals being avoidable but the fact is they weren't avoided. Hassel is normally en excellent player but he was nowhere to be seen when one of the goals came from the right wing, and the rest of the defence is very poor anyway and showed that yesterday, we definately need to seriously strengthen that area. Finally, I think we could do with a new keeper as Colgan was shown up by Crossley as having no command of the box and no communication skills, but with a list of needed transfers so long already I can't see that happening.
True but the players should have been brought in during the summer but it was AR's decision to stick with the squad from last year with just a couple of exceptions. I just think that some people on here are overreacting to a bad defeat when in the previous few games we were on the right lines. The mistake was playing RW in centre mid, hpefully SD will learn from this and realise it was a mistake and in similar circumstances play Tonge who is a natural midfielder with good energy and who is a good tackler. Defeat hurts like hell but I dont think Wednesday ripped us to shreds it was stupid individual errors and bad finishing by us. Nardi played ok but on at least 2 occasions should have passed to players in better goalscoring positions and it may have been a different outcome.
My response Is more logical and has much more time and effort into it than the garbage you have just spouted Look at the recent history of the club Ritchie - cheap appointment that did not work Then take a look at a 35 year old with no managerial experience thrown in at the deep end of a relegation threatend club And Fooooooook OOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFF !!! Seems to be an understatement
RE: My response He got us up but his appointment didn't work. Bloody hell even i wouldn't come out with something so stupid
RE: My response What about Adie Boothroyd at Watford? No experience, also 35 years old. Got Watford promoted to Premiership. Equally as valid point of view.
I'll agree with that mate. For the last two tears at least we have needed the defence strenthening, this season it as become a must. But little as been done, or what has been attempted as failed. Some players have been tried and tested in the Barnsley team for season after season and still not improved. I hope Davey brings in the right players,if he does he will be the first on a long list of managers to do this.
RE: Who'll be making the new signings? nt Who knows!!! Does it matter though if they have the desired effect and keep us up?
RE: Shepherd Will Sign The Players He Wants Davey To Play. nt You cannot have an opinion regarding our chairman as you do not have the balls to face him man to man.
RE: Yes, yes it does nt Why does it matter if its the scout or manager or tea lady? Surely the overriding aim is survival it it not?
RE: D/T...............ask me the same question ???? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 nt I didnt ask a question i made a statement.
RE: D/T........ well I can assure you the question dunt apply to me nt It wont as it was a statement to Dreamboy whatever his name is. Would you sit down and chat with the chairman face to face? Or are you a yellow belly as well?
Hang on a minute I agree with Dreamboy here - summats wrong. if Ritchie is a failure I darent think what everyone else since Basset has been then
