Lets not eh? Robbie Fowler was unrecognisable last night from his early season "form". He did pretty well on saturday against Preston but last night he was as sharp as a tack. His touch is outstanding and his finishing appears to be back at the level you associate RF with. JFH tries his hardest at all times and I think he found his lack of fitness and match-sharpness frustrating. Still loses a lot of the ball through poor control which I find surprising. That'll probably return with more games under his belt. But both of them are finding the net these days (dancin) Can't believe how many West Brom fans left last night after our 3rd went in - on 27 minutes
RE: Lets not eh? west broms report implies 4 shots= 4 goals and they were then unlucky not to score more themselves? fair or not
RE: Lets not eh? It did seem that every shot we had went in, yes. We were pressing though and spent most of the first half in their half. We must have been playing possession football and weren't shooting unless it was a guaranteed goal They did have a few attempts and I would say that they had far better chances than we had. How they must have wished for RF or JFH in their front line. Miller was quite a handful up front for them mind you. Second half we brought the deckchairs out and relaxed.
RE: Lets not eh? No. Not so far anyway. At this stage last season we were flying. Everything was based on pace with our full-backs overlapping our wingers and goals flying in from everywhere. We were top of the league for three months on merit. This season we've dominated games, Stoke and Coventry at home in particular, and silly mistakes have cost us because we haven't been able to score ourselves. Up until saturday against Preston every goal we've conceded has come from a mistake. It does appear that RF and JFH have at last regained match fitness, not to mention their goalscoring, and we have a number of players returning from injury. Glenn Loovens (our best defender by miles) played last night, Steve Thomson played saturday and Ricci Scimeca plays in a friendly today. It's a long old season so I'd reserve judgement at the moment. Remember Sunderland last year. This is how much RF and JFH have improved: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN6F81GsOmo
RE: Lets not eh? lucky riccochet to set Fowler up for first one-1 in 100 wonder strike for JFH's goal definite penalty for third -woeful lack of defending by centrebacks for 4th goal
I think/hope? our defence is better than that

Actually ...McPhail did well last night. There, I've said it and I don't get to say that often. Too often he takes control of a ball, spins 360 degrees and passes it 5 yards - taking all the impetus out of the game and allowing the opposition to regroup. Always wants to make himself look good. Turnbull's been dropped for Michael Oakes and it was long overdue. Says it all really. You seem to have hit a bit of form and ours is improving so I reckon it'll be a decent game. We're unbeaten on the road this year and I would expect that to be still the case after saturday.
RE: Lets not eh? He gets a lot of those 1 in 100 wonder strikes though doesn't he 451 career goals between them ain't bad either is it?
RE: Actually where do you think P Riddy's allegiances will be-does he still have a small place in his heart for little old Barnsley?? could we have our million pounds back please?
RE: Are you making your way up here on Saturday Not sure yet. Am preparing myself for a fall-out with the missus because we are supposed to be visiting my daughter in Uni - but after last nights' performance I'm all up for the delights of Oakwell instead! If I do get out of it, I'll be in touch to arrange a beer. Not sure that I'll have to put my hand in my pocket though, what with being a guest and all that
