I was suprised when I heard he had gone, but think it's probably the best thing. His formation yesterday was probably his worst yet. You can't play 4-3-3 when you have week links at full back. But on the whole he did more good than bad I think. But anyway let's tak about new gaffers. My fear is that Boothroyed and Adams look like early front runners based on availability and realistic targets. I would hate them both. Adams has never shown an ounce of managerial ability and boothroyed was a one trick pony that soon got found out. No body has mentioned Steve Cotterill yet either. Again not my cup of tea. Lets look at the unrealistic targets. Coppell, Curbs, Jewell. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind any of these but they seem to have lost their passion for the job. especially Jewell. I doubt we could match their wage expectations. I personally think we are too obsessed with finding a proven manager at this level. There are lots of managers in this league that were unproven and have done extremely well. My personal choice would be Robins. I dont think he will be another Parkin. Lee Clark would be a wild card shout. I also like Adkins. Brian Laws, Martinez, Phil Brown, Irvine, Di Matteo. None of these were proven. Whoever it is has to play to our strengths. He must look at the club and say we have 2 decent wingers - Hammill and JCR. We have 2 strikers good in the air - Grey, Boggy. Surely he must go 4-4-2 and play it, play it and play it again. If you look at the playing staff there is a lot of quality: Steele, Foster, Hassell Anderson, Hammill, JCR, Colace, Butterfield, Alfredsson Hume, Bogdanovic, Grey, RNL Some players worth keeping even though they are over the hill. Moore, Kozzy. Don't know enough about Thompson to pass judgement. Its obvious where the problems lie. Full back and Centre back. The only worry is that without a gaffer we wont be able to get help in beofre the window shuts.
