Interview with him in the Chronicle where he says personal issues affected him last season, but is determined to now make amends. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...ure-unclear-but-says-i-will-always-do-my-best
Prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt, none of us know what’s happening to someone outside of football, and I know from my own experience that stuff in life affects you at work. If he works hard for the team and does his best then he’ll have my support. …that said if it’s the same as last season he needs moving on quick sharp
If he commits to the cause I think he could do well. I'm sure there's a good player there. But given that Duff hasn't been using him much so far I wonder if he might end up an expensive substitute like last season
There seem a lot of ifs and buts in that article. Before I'd read it I largely expected him to be our first choice forward this season. Having read that, I'm more expectant of him moving on.
From the outside he's earning more money than he ever did before playing for us and has just become become a dad again. Just goes to show as rosy as it all looks for someone it's not always the case.
Looks a decent finisher what little we saw of him last season. His work rate and attention seems to be the problem. Got a feeling he’ll be offloaded before the window closes. Shame cos there’s definitely a good striker at L1 level in there for sure.
He alluded to his off-field problems last year in his brief interview with Tykes TV recently. You're right, we never truly know what's going on in someone's head. That being said, you can usually tell those players who have just given up/showing lack of effort, from the ones who are not quite right (for want of a better phrase). We need to get behind him while he is here, seems a nice kid.
I’m sorry but I’m not having it. He’s 24, not a baby. He’s played for several different clubs. His effort levels weren’t up to scratch last season. You can blame personal issues for a lack of confidence & finishing & decision making on the pitch been sub par but you’ve got to graft if it’s not going your way & make it happen. He owes us & needs to want it this season.
Doesn't seem very committed to me. My plans are more long term when I go to bed at midnight and set the alarm for 8. "For the moment I am still in contract with Barnsley" "I cannot know the future" "At the moment I am training and, when I am wearing the shirt"
Well, sounds to me from that interview that he's open to moving away. Seems to be hinting that might be the case. Would imagine he's one of our top earners as well
Hopefully he does, at the end of the season he is one I hoped and expected would move on given his lack of impact on the pitch and the fact he is likely to be one of the top earners. Issue is given his sub par performances last season, who is going to want him......... We will probably end up stuck with him until January at the earliest where he could be sold if he has scored a few by that point.
He seems to have a bit of spark but, as with a lot of wingers/forwards at our level, his work rate isn’t up to scratch and he fades out of the game a bit too much. I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves the club this summer. I’d like him to stay, work his nuts off and prove he has what it takes. Not really sure on any of that last part though.
signing him and oulare has been disastrous. not just in terms of their return for us, but also how it has massively hampered our ability to bring other players in. I wonder how much Conway pocketed from those two deals?
Cant say that I saw you giving your best last season, not that it was all poor, but lack of effort was on show on quite a few occasions.
I think he's got a similar profile to Mamadou Thiam. Hopefully he'll score a few goals and get his mojo back. I liked the bit I saw of him and thought he was unlucky not be in the team regularly after his three goal burst last Autumn. Then if his goal v Cardiff City had stood no one knows what could have happened. He also played in the worst Barnsley team in my living memory and I've seen some 5 hite.
He can speak English, it's just very limited. I don't think the Chron have produced a good article here at all. It's almost like they've intentionally set it up to confuse and maintain ambiguity, and from the tone you can't tell if it's due to the questions they asked, or the answers given. Very poor imo.
goodness. ha. complaining about talents that have at least done things in football when the club are signing ***** like Norwood or for the Barnsley Media Team James Nogood.
