Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe tour

Anyone on here off to any of the Liam Gallagher dates next year?

I managed 2 for the o2 on the 11th of June. Cannot wait! Was lucky enough to catch Oasis in the early 00s but not seen a LG solo show yet. Definitely Maybe in full swayed it for me

 

Tried for some for my daughter Manchester on the 15th...25.000 people in front of me in the queue, venue holds 21.000

Saw them in 94/95 at the Duchess in Leeds.

They lost me after the second LP.

The Real People were a better band TBH, from Liverpool.

 

I saw Liam at Leeds fest in 2017 and was pleasantly surprised at how good he was. I've never bothered with either of them's solo stuff, and I can take or leave Oasis to be honest, but he was brilliant on that occasion.

 

Yes got tickets for Sheffield, delighted. Taking my 11 y/o lad who is now a big fan after seeing Noel at the Rock N Roll circus in Sheffield (which was fantastic btw). Oasis Maine Road in 96 was my first ever gig I think and was life changing for me; seen Liam more recently at Leeds Arena then Royal Albert Hall. He has been brilliant all times - an outstanding front man, can't wait.

Saw him last year at the Etihad and he was brilliant. Missed Bonehead though, because he was badly, but now he's been given the all clear I'm stoked to see him again.

In other news - tickets were on Viagogo at 9.05am for £250 a pop. Stinks.

 

Tried to get tickets for Sheffield and Manchester dates... failed.

 

Have to admit, I’m surprised at the clamour for tickets to this. People would have been better waiting a year or two for the inevitable reunion tour!

I saw Oasis several times back in the day. 94 in Brighton 95 at Earls Court, then at Knebworth (on the Creation guest list, no less!j and at Wembley after their third album. I think there was another one inbetween, but my memories of the mid-90s are a little hazy!. But I thought they’d lost it by the third album, so didn’t buy any subsequent album or bother seeing them any more, apart from seeing Noel in the pub a couple of times. I thought they were great for the first couple of albums though, and their earlier shows were brill. In Brighton they played an encore, which they had refused to do before then. But they didn’t know what to do, so played Rock N Roll Star again. At Earls Court the support band was the Bootleg Beatles, so they wheeled them out for the encore and an Oasis/Bootleg Beatles supergroup closed the show with a fun version of I Am The Walrus, complete with orchestra.

At Knebworth I was more interested in seeing The Charlatans, who were my favourite band at the time. We got offered either day, so chose the second day just to see them. Rob Collins had died a couple of weeks earlier, so Martin Duffy of Felt/Primal Scream sat in. It was quite emotional, but they were excellent. They were raffling this really smart looking scooter in the Creation tent to raise some money for Collins’ family. I bought a ticket, but was quite glad I didn’t win, cos I hadn’t a clue what I was going to do with it There’s no way you’d have got me on one of those and I didn’t even have anywhere I could put it, as I was living in the nurses accommodation in Hampstead. I’d have probably just tried to flog it to someone there and then. Although I could still feel my hands and feet back then and my balance wasn’t rubbish like it is now, so maybe it would have been quite fun scooting round Camden Town looking like a less cool version of Jimmy Cooper!

I won’t be bothering with the Oasis reunion tour, when it comes, unless my son wants to go. I wracked my brain recently, after being disappointed watching Pulp on TV (not a patch on their heyday, but I suppose several key members are missing and quite a few years on the meter) and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ‘reunion’ type tour/gig, or not a big one anyway. Had a ticket to see the Pistols at Finsbury Park, but decided I didn’t want to see them unless I got my hands on a TARDIS and could go back to 1976, so I gave it to someone else. I did think a reunion tour was on the cards a few months ago that I would have gone to though. Frankie Goes To Hollywood! I used to love them and still play their records frequently. But I’ve been told by one of them that the appearance in Liverpool was the final word on that story. A shame.

I saw Pulp this year in Scotland at some festival - thought they were as good as ever. Although I think if Jarvis is on form, then the band are.

Oasis were a different level though. I was at their second to last ever gig at Bridlington Spa - the magic was still there even after 15 years.

Liam has been really surprising though over these last 5 years or so. I thought his voice had gone in the latter days of Oasis, but he's somehow pulled it out of the bag. He's still the man.

 

im surprised with what you say about Pulp. I thought the gig in sheffield was unbelievably good! I went to london too which was also excellent.

I imagine being there would have added a lot to the occasion. I was just watching on a TV screen and comparing it to the times I saw them back in the 90s. Pulp were always an exciting band to see, but this summer the energy wasn’t there, although you can’t really expect Jarvis to be jumping around like he did 30 years ago. But back in the day the band seemed tighter and they were all performers that were worth watching, especially Russell, whereas I found this year’s band a tad dull.

I imagine I’d have enjoyed it more had I been there, and I know I’m being a bit unfair comparing a band touching 60 with how they were 30 years ago, especially with a couple of key members missing. I dare say Jarvis could watch me trying to get up off the floor and tell me I was much more nimble in the 90s!
