Up until the turn of the new year i thought he was immense.

Recently hes been average at best.

His kickings abysmal and looks like a clanger waiting to happen.

Positioning for goal yesterday was shocking.

Wouldnt be arsed either way if he went back or stayed.

I honestly think there’s better keepers out there. People have bought into his celebrations and it’s masked some of his poor performances.

Massive fan of Roberts but can see his current form stopping us sign him. Hopefully we manage to get it over the line no matter the league we’re in and he can get back to the form he showed us before his injury.

I've been one of his biggest fans but I always said we had a good chance of signing him because with the ball at his feet he's poor and that will stop him playing much higher in the modern game. Your right his form has dropped right off along with Earl who I thought was another great signing difficult to put your finger on but what I would say is without Robert's early in the season we would be nowhere near the playoffs without him..

In the last transfer window I'd have been happy with us dropping 500k to make Roberts permanent, but now I'm not so sure. However, him returning and us making Killip no.1 would be a worry, so I'd want a replacement better than Roberts currently.
Unfortunately, that's likely to cost more £ than we will spend, so I'd stick with Roberts if we can, as the best we can do at our level as I'm not contemplating Championship football right now.

Yep not sure what he was doing yesterday, positioning was abysmal.

Can’t understand where he was going for Northampton goal yesterday, if he stays on his line it’s a comfortable save.

Good keeper finds are ten a penny. He hasn't done enough to warrant an offer from us.

Trouble is Barnsley goalkeepers have a lot more work to do then other keepers due to our ***** defence

Agree with most of that really. First half of the season I was wondering how we’d got him and why Boro had let him out but these last few months, he’s not been great.

When watching the game back first things I noticed about their goal was Earl allowing the flick on as a free header and then MDG simply nowhere near the player who puts it in. You’re right though, Roberts did seem to be positioned slightly weirdly too.

He can't catch crosses under pressure. Terrible at commanding the six yard box.

I'm slightly concerned that Collins started brightly but got worse and worse while he was here. Isted wasn't quite as good towards the end as when he joined us and now Roberts has gone massively backwards.

Does the goalkeeping coaching need looking at?

Not signing Roberts in the summer would be less of a loss than us failing to sign Isted last summer, after he got cold feet about signing a contract following Duff's departure.

I don't think he's an essential signing, but he'd be an adequate first choice keeper for another League One campaign. In the Championship (ha ha, right!) I'd probably want to widen the search further given that we'd have more of a recruitment budget to play with.

Is it that he’s been trying to compensate for the poor defending so feels he has to try to do harder to do the job that defenders needed to do

Been really poor last few weeks. If we’d a better keeper in reserve he’d have been dropped.

After first few months I was desperate for us to sign him but last few months he's been really poor.

Wouldn't mind us signing him full time as all the squad have been poor recently, but I do think there's better out there.

Yeah, he's dropped off. But without him, I mean literally him, not most other league 1 goalkeepers, we wouldn't be in play offs. He was absolutely immense earlier on and there was no way it could continue. Now I fear we are all judging him on his brilliant purple patch.
The amount of saves he "shouldn't" have made is sky high from first half of season.

It’s weird. He’s not the only one though. Many of our players have slumped massively in standard. Even Luca Connell hasn’t been exempt from this.

I'd be happy for us to sign him on a free if his wages are within our budget. He's suffered recently but it can't be easy playing behind such a jittery defence.
