I really don't understand Lib Dem voters. As a third party, do they vote Lib Dem just to protest, or would they prefer a chance to have some of their policies implemented? As a third party, surely they would know that the only way that would happen is in coalition. Indeed, they are enthusiastic supporters of electoral reform, and PR means permanent coalition. If they support this concept because they want more seats, surely by definition, they support coalition? So to now throw their toys out as a protest against their parties performance in coalition seems to me to be a bit hard of thinking. Speaking as a small 'c' conservative, I actually think that they have played their part in the coalition well and they have had a reasonable number of their policies implemented, whilst at the same time, putting the block on any ideas of the Tories of a more extreme nature. That is the line that Nick Clegg has tried to put across, and even though I can't stand the man, I agree with him.
Not sure its that simple - 2010 result the Tories had 36.1% of the vote at the time of typing with a few seats left to come in the tories have 36.5% of the vote - The Lib Dem supporters have gone elsewhere No doubt the Lib Dem supporters were disillusioned but give me a choice of an outright Tory government, or a Tory government kept in check to some extent by the Lib Dems and I prefered the latter - and surely any Lib Dem supporter must think the same Not sure too many disillusioned Lib Dem voters would have switched to tory
