Presenter said he had been speaking to Rick Holden last Friday and that he had a good idea they were going then. Holden told him they had been trying to get experienced players but that they couldn't fit them into the chairmans wage struture. Discussed poss new managers, Hirst/Palmer team mentioned by Ron! I don't think so! Went to a break. After the break they came back and said they had been discussing it. Big Ron said he found it strange as Wallwork was a great signing but he knew how much he would be on and so he didn't get it. Went on to suggest next Big Ron manager programme be at Oakwell! Lightheartedly of course.
As I keep saying The manager is in charge of the wage budget. Its largely upto him how he spends it.
My theory is that he did not want players bringing in whom were on more money than "his lads".
Others may have thought an experienced (but well paid man) may make a difference. the manager was not prepared to do it.
Hence AR departs, experience comes in.

Holden was definitely reported as talking about the chairmans wage structure, who I believe to be a Gordon Shepherd. To my knowledge Andy Ritchie was never chairman. Although given what comes out of the Oakwell who knows?
Was Holden Ritchie's mate?
Just a thought.
Has he just been effectively sacked?
Was he totally privvy to AR & GS's discussions?
Its all about who you want to believe.
