I'm fed up of the reading posts from the Davey out crowd. I feel that sacking him is the worst thing we could do! I admit I wasn't a fan of his appointment, but I have slowly grown to respect him and believe he is taking the club in the right direction (Just to clarify for you negative folks thats upwards not down!!!!).

I have read some posts in disbelief today claiming that Davey has not improved the squad in his time in charge. They cannot be serious surely! in other words they are claiming the following:

Goalkeepers: Colgan & Letheren are a stronger pairing that Muller & Steele?
Centre Backs: P.Reid, A.Kay, R.Atkinson are better than Foster, Souza & Moore?
Fullbacks: Hassell, Tonge, R.Williams, N.Austin are better than Hassell, Kozluk & Van Homeot?
Central Midfield: Howard, Togwell, Wroe & C.Healy better than Howard, Leon, A.De Silva & Colace?
Wingers: Devaney, McIndoe & McPartland better than JCR, Devaney, El Haimour & Rigters
Forwards: Hayes, Richards & T.Wright are better than Macken, Hume, Mostto & KO

This is comparing squad he inherited from Ritchie against todays team. I don't feel their is any comparison, the current squad is much improved in my opinion. The only players I would have retained would have been Paul Hayes and McIndoe but Davey had little choice in his departure.

As for Daveys achievements he has secured our Championship status for the past two seasons even with injuries to key players last season (i.e. Muller & De Silva), improved the squad (see above), reached FA Cup semi final (beating Liverpool & Chelsea along the way), had excellent home record and helped make Oakwell a fotress, more often than not had the team playing entertaining football (or at least I have been entertained)

Yes we have started the season very badly, but two out of the three league games we have played so far have been away from home and against two of the toughest teams in the league and favourites for the title. If we had taken any points from those two games I would have been happy. I was a little dissapointed not to get any points at home against Coventry but come on, how can you suggest it is time for Davey to go????? MADNESS is what it would be, and besides the fact who would you replace him with..... Jose Mourinho aint gonna come to Oakwell

    agreed on the whole

though we are well shut of Hayes IMHO.

It could be argued that the strikers are performing no better but Its a fair bet Hume and Macken wll make double figures this term.

its the things Davey says and does that wind me up, he says he going out there to win every game, and then goes and plays a lone striker up front, goes in 2 nil behind and says he had the right plan from the start thats what win ds me up he needs to turn of the blinkers and look at whats happening, I dont mind if a manager comes out and says we were ****! at least they are being honest!

Agree. He might be a good coach but a man manager and a team manager he is not and he has proved this so many times. You cant fall out with important squad players. He's tacticly inept as he's proved on numerous occasions. Playing 1 up front is suicide especially when we cant even score with 2.

It annoys me when he just stands there with his arms folded. Just shows he hasnt a clue.

Is he even a good coach?

What has the academy produced as a result of his reign over it?

What players in the first team has SD improved through his alleged ability to "coach" players?

Howards certainly improved in Davey's era.....

Howard.... I thought Colgan greatly improved the first season back in the Championship and many of the players Davey has signed have made steady improvements e.g. Foster, Macken etc

You really think Macken and Foster have improved on last season?

And Colgan improved as a goalie in his time under Davey? I think he just had more to do back in the Championship and he was already capped for Eire.

they improved during the season yes.......

I would say its to early to judge them this season and compare it to last........ considering we have played just 4games.

Fair comment, although I'd just suggest that Macken got fitter rather than became a better footballer and that Foster was good ever since joining us and began to stand out compared to our other defenders.

I'm just wondering when we're allowed to start judging this season though...
