No. I was talking about this thread: http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/fo...sts=14&highlight=****&highlightmode=1#M653445
but it's the way southeners see us... ...my Brother in law is a Larndenar, and it's all ey up lad, grim op norf, weers thi whippet.. then after i've smacked him back with 'any old iron, apples and pears, f**k off yer cockernee lovely person*' I point out that he has the same speech impediment that Trevor Brooking has... Nottinam Berminam and Teddy Sherrinam.... There's more money down there but the amount of whinging and complaining they do is ridiculous, mind beer at £3.50 a pint they've probably a reason.
Afternoon, Toby. Filmed at your comedy night some years back with Damian. Had some fella doing a football stand-up about how ***** Sheffield football was. We'll probably give it another airing soon.....
I know, as I said in my reply to BFC Dave just wondered if it was the pond life thread that had drawn your attention to the bbs?? or whether you were a regular peruser???
ps
excellent show by the way, perks me up on my drive in to work every morning

RE: phoenix nights, series 3. Any chance of it before you retire? nt Dunno. I'd love to, but it's pretty much up to the main man. There has been talk of a ten year anniversary jobby, first of PK Thing, then PN. Dave Spikey says he fancies a Christmas Special.
RE: Did you mention the word tw*t if you did l'm tuning in tomorrow. nt At least Toby doesn't emphasise his Barnsley accent, talk really down to earth, use his fellow Barnsley people as the butt of his gags by inferring they are a bit slow etc - if he did, then the Londoners listening would really believe its all whippets and flat caps up here, eh Toby?
Get in his ear then and tell him I want a new series (that will make all the difference...) If there is a christmas special or something then I can't wait but knowing my luck i'll miss it.
RE: phoenix nights, series 3. Any chance of it before you retire? nt I am off to see Dave Spikey in May. And Jimmy Carr the next night.
RE: Criticised for being down to earth There is nothing wrong with 'being' down to earth far from it. Prince Phillip is down to earth but equally, his upper class twang would suggest otherwise. No, I said 'talking' down to earth - which was a polite way of saying 'talking as though all Barnsley people are backward, slow and unsophisticated.' The man is making a living by re-inforcing this image that all Barnsley people are a bit dim, all talk as though they come from a bygone era and walk around in rags. Thing is, lots of people seem to want to laugh at their own stereotype and then wonder why they are constantly patronised by people outside of the town, particularly Souherners.
No, it was owned by the architect Malcolm Lister, I was the manager who opened it, and traded it for the first year before it was taken over by Malcolm's son Mark.
