And there was a feature on Newcastle's of the world whereby residents are trying to establish links with every town,village and city with the name Newcastle,a kind of mass twinning. Got to wondering how many Barnsley's there are in the world I know there's one somewhere down south and one in northern Ireland and there'll definitely be some in USA,Australia,New Zealand and Canada etc . Interesting about the Newcastle one is that there were quite a few in non English speaking countries.

One in Gloucester I knew of. Wiki says one in: Shropshire New South Wales, Australia Manitoba, Canada Kentucky, USA Also a Barnsley Manor on Isle of Wight.
Just summising there one in New Zealand tbh the only three I know of I've mentioned above .would be interesting to find how many there is and how they came to be called Barnsley though
Don't know really I only caught last few minutes of the show but I can't see why not. Apparently loads of people from these places have travelled and met up . I'm counting New Barnsley in Belfast anyway
Stayed in the one Gloucestershire many years ago when on a course - it is near Cirencester and is a very small village I recall. We stayed in the village pub and got proper p*ssed. One of my favourite ever business jollies.
