<h3>Lita turns down Blades</h3>Tuesday 13 Jan 2009 Reading insist Leroy Lita will not be joining Sheffield United even though the Blades had said they had agreed a fee for the 24-year-old.</p> The former Bristol City striker had been targeted by United as a replacement for James Beattie, who moved to Stoke City earlier this week.</p> However, the Royals' director of football, Nick Hammond, told the club's official website: "We did receive a private offer from Sheffield United for Leroy Lita last week.</p> "We always try to be open with our players regarding bids officially lodged by other clubs, so it was put to Leroy.</p> "However, we were very pleased that Leroy firmly stated his desire to stay at Reading and he will not be joining Sheffield United." </p>
