Worked out well for Liverpool, finishing second then signing the Southampton players and then finishing around the same place as Southampton did last season(I know they are one place higher). Great bit of footballing intelligence !
Technically Liverpool did have something to play for. Had Southampton beaten City, Liverpool wouldn't have finished in a European place.
We were saying the same earlier. Although he recruited some good players last summer, they weren't the players they were looking for. Take Ballotelli for example, decent player in his own right, but not the sort of striker Liverpool should have been signing to play alongside Sturridge.
