I can only assume Man City are desperate to boost their home grown quota because anywhere above £30m for Raheem Sterling is ridiculous. He's shown himself to be a petulant little boy and yes, player power has won again. But if I was Man City I'd have looked elsewhere once the last bid was turned down.

its the same at our level.....Holgate, Howard, Buttercup etc etc . Not knocking Stonesy but to be fair to all of them, they all had better offers and player power as it is, they are in the driving seat. Contracts aren't worth a toss if they wanna go, they go in the end.

    sad state of affairs

49m for a player. That is nuts.

Sadly I'm fast losing interest at the top.

So glad I support United and Barnsley.

    Real football.

I've given up with top flight football, it disgusts me. £49m is an obscene amount of money for a kid who has had one good season and even that was on the back of another player.

    I'm blaming the media.

All I keep reading is 'Sterling is Liverpool's best player'.

    Total ********.

Coutinho consistently been better than him over the past 2 seasons, just another case of the English media bigging some young player up to be a superstar.

There's a lot of talent in Sterling but he lacks an end product & his finishing is awful. I don't think he's any better than a similar sized player Shaun Wright - Phillips was at the same age

This has got to be because man city haven't got enough homegrown players for the champions league like the other year they got Richard Wright

Saw something on Facebook other day that 15 year ago £49 million got you Zidane. I know which one I'd prefer

    Anyway cracking deal for Liverpool
