Still one of the better areas of Barnsley although others will disagree of course.

Neice lives on that new estate and thinks its fine, nearest school for young uns has one of the best reps in the North, they travel from Birdwell and other areas of Tarn if they can get a place. New joint Wombwell /Darfield super high school thingy in the pipeline. Town centre is ok but could do with some more investment from BMBC so it will probably remain just ok for my lifetime. As i say. others will disagree

Good area to live mate. Very under rated.
Nice estate that one, my next door neighbours lad lives up there.

2 pubs and a club close by.

On a Bus route and Railway Station 10-15 minutes away.
Netherwood Nature reserve and Wombwell Woods on the door step.

Tesco 4 minutes by car and Morrisons 6 minutes.

Bet it isn't much over that

From Periwinkle on Windmill Road to the Cricket Club. Right turn down to the Station and then left onto Hemingfield Road. Left at the roundabout onto Dearne Valley Parkway and straight down to Morrisons.

Two and a half miles tops.

If that super High School gets built on old pit site it`ll be underwater first time it rains.

If you mean the Strata estate i think its ok. Aldham isn't has bad as it was now most if the flats have been knocked down just a shame they left some standing
