Shame, I actually hope he stays now-I think the Reds have turned a significant corner. BUT, was it LJ, Mr Cryne, Ben or Adam Hamill that was the catalyst for our recent upturn in fortune?

Probably a combination of those factors, without being in the know...as it were, it's difficult to say.
One thing we can say for certainty is that no-one at BFC management panicked, after 8 straight defeats LJ's position will have come under scrutiny, but that's not to suggest they were on the point of sacking him. I would doubt he would have survived at many clubs these days, when instant success is expected, so fair play to the board. Perhaps input from other staff or ex staff, such as Disco and Bobby was sought. My view was that despite the results we were never as bad as this 'worst team I've ever seen' suggestion..perhaps it was seen that way upstairs.
One thing we can probably draw from it is, when a young manager and young team format was decided on, it wasn't just on grounds of cost, backing him with Hammill and White suggests they have a longer term vision and are prepared to stick with it...even if it needs a bit more than just a few tweaks along the way.
I'm sure we've turned the corner now, having said that there will always be setbacks on the way, hopefully we fans can take from this..and the retaining of our best players in the transfer window that the board can be trusted and do have the best interests of the club at heart.
The first half of the season was largely wasted IMO, and despite not calling for LJ to be sacked I recognise he was fortunate to be backed instead.
I think the best thing we can do now is to forget what happened up to Xmas, and treat the second half of the season as a new start..a bit like when Flicker took over.

If L J was off to Bcfc the board wouldn't allow him to bring these players in on full-time contracts, would they

To be fair I think super Bob has played a part in the most recent signings. Obviously with LJ's final word.

He'd be daft to go there now. Could be in the same division next season. In fact, we might well swap divisions. I understand it's his ex club and all that jazz, but he's not well-liked there and if he went there and struggled, they got relegated, he'd be out on his arse.

Chance of a trophy, two Wembley appearances, a promotion... and an opportunity to go down as a legendary manager of our club. Which I think that would warrant. If we went to Wembley twice, won both, a trophy and a promotion, after everything that went off previously...? That'd be the stuff of legend.

If they offer him the job he'll take it. If I'm honest. :D

    Exactly.

He leaves now he's quickly on route to achieving a CV like Mark Robins. 5 clubs now with nothing achieved. His next job will be in League One and if he fails there he'll be on the scrap heap if he's unwilling to drop to League 2. If Robins had stuck around to get Coventry promoted he'd be high on the list of any League One sides looking to go up.

Johnsons the same. If he jumps ship before achieving anything with us and then fails at Bristol (likely they want immediate success) then he'll be lucky to drop on another League One club with our resources.

He'll be back an an Oldham, Scunny, Bury ect.

Saying that I wouldnt blame him if he goes.

I reckon Wembley will have summat to do with it. If we beat fleetwood, I can't see him going anywhere this season. Might be some pre-contract shenanigans behind the scenes though.

Just thought exactly the same myself after listening to his interview.

    Only a hunch though.

Odds on favourite doesn't actually mean that he will get the job.
It's all down to betting trends, a few Barnsley/Bristol fans may have had a few quid on him and he tumbles in the betting.
Someone once told us that Owen Coyle was guaranteed to be next Celtic manager so everyone had a punt on him at decent odds.
He came down to odds-on but didn't get the job.
Same thing with Pewlis and Crystal Palace - they closed the betting at one stage and he didn't get it either.
In fact, how often does the odds-on favourite actually get the job? I'd be interested to know.

It's not often. Especially with the early favorites.

I put over £100 quid on Owen Coyle for that job for some Norwegian to come out of no where and get it. He wasn't even in the betting.

When Flicker was appointed he was 25/1 on the day. I cashed in on that one taking it as us getting 25/1 to beat Leeds.

When Johnson was appointed he was 12/1-14/1 with the bookies the day before he got the job.

Keith Hill was 14/1 before he got the job.

I've seen Redfearn, Hignett, O'driscoll, Rosler, Adkins, Branson and Wilson all as nailed on favorites without being appointed.

Tony Pulis DID get the Crystal Palace job, though. He joined them in November 2013 and left at the start of the following season.

If he wasn't interested in the job he would just say it in the interview, but he doesn't.
He's probably dusting down the old Powerpoint presentation now, and formulating a 100 day plan.
He'll be telling them that he'll have it all sorted after 3 windows...but leave after 2.

Well, we had Di Canio odds on favourite at one point.

He was favourite to go back to Palace when Warnock got the job.

It was Neil Warnock who took over from Tony Pulis.

Pulis had been odds on favourite to go back to his old job not long after he'd left.
Keith Millen had been caretaker manager. I just remember on Talksport that it was a done deal for Pulis to go back to Palace.
His odds had dropped from 140/1 to something like 7/2 on but Warnock got the gig.
