I think his final remark was pertinent. Regards Scunny and their experienced squad. As I keep on saying, LJ in. The board's strategy - out.
Spot on Whitey. Whilst I think LJ has performed poorly. His hands in terms of recruitment have definitely been tied. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Bang on, just wait for us to get another manager in with the exact same strategy and end up following our downward spiral.
Yep. I'm not knocking the board - unlike most - but I do feel they've been daft in assuming we could make this strategy work. A squad full of inexperience and far too many loans. I don't want anyone sacking, I just want them to tweak it. We've probably missed the boat in achieving owt this season, certainly in terms of promotion, but to stand us in good stead for next season it's time we addressed a blatant need for some know how in that squad.
I don't disagree with the change the strategy bit but surely he was fully aware of said strategy when he came on board?! For all we know he has challenged it from day one, we will never know I suppose but it's been clear we'd need experience all along.
Agreed. The board and owner wanted a young squad and manager. They should show faith and back them. If they don't they should sack everyone else for less.
Why do we need a "strategy"?! Why can't we just have a normal football club that signs a mix of experienced pro's and promising youngsters. Why are we trying to complicate things with this ridiculous strategy?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Because those in football now need to justify their obscene salaries by using the pseudo science of football.
'You can't legislate for the first goal' You can Lee, by not selecting Nick Townsend. He is nowhere near up to the task of keeping goal at this present time. Not even remotely close. It doesn't matter how much you rate him or how good you think he's going to be, right now he's a liability. There's every chance he's going to cost you your job and Barnsley FC our place in this league. This type of thing is exactly what the loan market is for. When your number 1 keeper is injured and your second choice isn't up to it, you get a keeper in on loan. What it's not for is filling your squad with kids before the season even starts. Bite the bullet, tell the board you've made a mistake with Townsend, get a keeper in on loan before Tuesday and it might save your job and our season. Everything that goes in to our box at present ends up in the back of the net. When that happens the confidence and spirit in the rest of the players just drains away. You've got a chance to do something about it. You're lucky that our owner made the claim that he won't sack another manager otherwise you'd already be gone. You've got a stay of execution. Save yourself while you've still got the chance FFS.
