Lloyd Isgrove is a two-time winner of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. He won it with Peterborough 2 years ago as well. He came on as a 83rd minute sub. I didn't know that.
Yeah they beat Chesterfield in the final. Chesterfield won it the season before against Di Canio's Swindon side I believe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like Isgrove but thought he was very poor at Wembley and **** out of any 70/30 challenge let alone 50/50.
I thought he backed out of the one where he got in behind, had he challenged the keeper I reckon he'd have scored. Sent from my I-Oven using the internets
I think it's a common failing with some players. They look good on the ball but not so good when challenging for it. I like Isgrove and he might become a good player in time but he's not really there yet. I was really disappointed with that one in the second half when he seemed to control a high ball with a cushioned header that got him past the defender but he seemed to hesitate when going for a fifty/fifty with the goalkeeper. He could have scored but never really went for the ball. I don't think he will EVER score for us.
He reminds me of Martin Bullock. Of course he did eventually score for us, so there's hope for Isgrove yet.
Except Bullock had outrageous pace and beat players with ease. Isgrove has lots of time in front of him, but he's not quite worked out his strengths yet. Fingers crossed the penny drops for him as he seems an honest lad. Like the look of Chapman much more at this stage of their respective careers.
I'd say Isgrove can shift quicker than Bullock could to be honest. But I drew the comparison from the fact they both can beat defenders whenever they like but rarely dared have a go at goal themselves.
Chapman is much earlier in his career and has the world at his feet. Isgrove is about to reach a cross roads, if he can't break into the Southampton set up next season, he has to leave or risk not reaching his potential. Chapman has real pace, tricks and an eye for goal. Isgrove is a better team player, less spectacular, puts in a shift (Wembley excepted) but offers cover to the full back.
I prefer isgrove to chapman on the right wing anyday even if he does back out of 50/50s he offers much more than chapman in terms of pressing and tracking back and helping the rb out. Chapman is ok to bring on against tired legs.
I generally like him but he was very poor at Wembley. I'd have subbed him at half time as he was a passenger.
I agree also, on Sunday I thought he looked a bit nervous and was trying too hard in the first half but much better in the second. Good team player, a bit like Marley, you need players like him in your team, offers great balance down the right.
I've not seen him as much as others, but when i have I've been very frustrated with him. But then with Hammill on the other wing, its easy to be seen in a much more negative light. He seems a more timid Dan Crowley to me.
Good Player. He was electrifying toward the end of his first loan spell. Drove at defences, Made them commit. Exciting player who gets fans on their feet. Will also track back and help out his full back. Since his injury/ international call up he's not quite been at the races recently. Maybe a confidence thing. Young players need to feel the love more than older ones I think. I like him. Love to see him back full time next season.
Bit harsh I'd of subbed a few at half time. But I'm not convinced by chapman on wing so if isgrove had been subbed at half time at Wembley it would have had to be for watkins imo
