Is he allowed? I thought people had said we wouldn't be able to, because we'd already had him for the maximum? i can never work the rules out..
Johnson stated that when his current loan ended that was the maximum burnley wanted him to have. He also said hourihane couldn't play in a 4 man midfield and thought winnal was best deployed as a winger or midfielder. So to summarise, i dont know
Sadly, that's right, there is a 93 day maximum for short-term loans. The only chance we had to extend further was to move him to a long-term loan in the transfer window but Burnley didn't want to.
aye, thought that was the case. our defence has been outstanding the last dozen or so games and i think he's been the key to that
I bet he himself is probably disappointed that he will not get a chance to play at Wembley after the part he has played in our upturn in form.
Why can't the same player come back for another 93 days? Doesn't the loan go back to zero once he's gone back to his own club? That's if Burnley wanted him to go out on loan again
I'm surprised there are so many posts debating this, I thought it was fairly clear he couldn't re-sign again. Anyway, rules are here: http://www.football-league.co.uk/global/section6.aspx He signed on an Emergency Loan, which means he can stay with us for a maximum of 93 days. Even if Burnley were willing to terminate his contract (and I don't think they are), he couldn't sign for anyone until the next transfer window. I did however come across this: 53.3.10 Emergency Loans and Youth Loans may contain a break clause but only where that break clause is exercisable after the expiry of the initial 28 day period of the loan. Read more at http://www.football-league.co.uk/global/section6.aspx#jpwRTP7ETste46wI.99 Which I assume means the clubs can agree to a period of time where he returns to Burnley. So technically, if we wanted to reward him for his part in our season with a Wembley appearance, I guess we could set a breakl between days 91 and 92, then loan him back for a day for the JPT.
There aren't any extenuating circumstances though. We've got 3 centre backs in reserve - Nyatanga, Roberts and Cowgill. I think they only use this when clubs haven't got any keepers. Mind, they make it up as they go along normally.
