When LJ was here, we made a clear statement that the reason we had a lot of loanees and worked the system hard was that we brought loanees who we aimed to sign permenantley. Seems this was the case with Pearson, Smith, Wilkinson etc. Now we seem to have loanees who we have little chance of signing permenanty and seem to recognise this in our planning. Loans right now seem to be to fill in the gaps from lack of bodies. I would love to keep Brownhill, Chapman and haven't seen much of Connolly but doubt we have a chance. Unsure if we have a chance with Fletcher or Isgrove. Adding to the shorter term contracts for White and Hamill we could well have a building step. This might be a good thing where we don't know where we will end up right now.
Patrick highlighted that we won't be able to follow this course with loanees next season with the rule changes in that excellent show on WAB midweek. So new territory next season?
I've seen a few people say we've not got a chance with Brownhill but I don't really understand why. Hes out of contract at end of season and Preston have demonstrated exactly what they think of him by getting Pearson in. I guess concern is if an established championahip club takes a fancy then there's probably not much we would be able to do. But I'd hope that the fact we've shown faith and given him a really consistent run of games will count for something
Grayson says Brownhill is out on loan developing exactly as they wanted and is close to signing a new contract.
We can still sign loan players but from 1 transfer window until, the following transfer window, no 1 month loans anymore
