Not going to take credit for observing this - it was my old man - but... Button was the only loan player in the team today.

Considering how many we currently have on loan, that's quite a surprise, and clearly bodes well for next season. With Steele, Hassell, Edwards, Perkins and O'Brien all injured too, we surely have the nucleus there?

Still very much short of quality, but if we can get a few quid for Butterfield, unearth 'a Vaz Te' and perhaps bring through a couple of the academy lads, then I hope we can be competitive again next season.

Cotterill's an odd one too - strange that he hasn't featured much. Hill indicated in his press conference that he's been a bit impatient too, so he's going to need game time if we're going to convince him to stay next year. If he does, then perhaps he adds a level of quality which has been missing recently.

Hopefully his performance today will convince Hill he's worth a run, and perhaps more importantly marks the end of Craig Davies' spell on the wing.
