How many decent ones have we had from the premier league big six? I sometimes wonder if our club get sucked in by the glamour of it all. I'm especially struggling to think of any decent ones from Chelsea. I look forward to being corrected.
Drinkwater and Fletcher. Possibly Kent. The bad far outweigh the good. Same for all loans wherever they come from. I’d put our success rate to be between 30 and 40 percent.
Matty James came from the then reigning Premier League champions... And what I'd give to have kept him here.
How many games did McLaughlin play in the end? I remember both him and Hunt being on loan and both being injured for a time.
IIRC, Michael Chopra did very well on loan for us, as did Luke Steele. Pearson also performed well, I was so disappointed when we lost out to Preston when he left MUFC.
Not sure MR , but I seem to remember there was a wish from some of our fans to try & get him on a permanent basis , I think he genuinely impressed
Chris Lumsdon was like Messi during his loan-spell. After he signed, mind you... there was, shall we say, something of a deterioration in performance. Paul Kane was great. Or maybe I had only just started going, and had nothing to measure him against! Paul McShane was a cut above anything we had, but very costly. In regard to the opening poster's question, Eckersley from Man Utd was toss. I'm better than him. Devante Cole was hot-and-cold. As for Vito Mannone... the less said, the better.
We had Jacob Mellis from Chelsea.... oh I see your point. We’ve done ok with Man U. And Leicester for loans
Ryan Tunnicliffe from Man Utd in the great escape season was a bad one. Brought him in when we’d been doing well, he played a few games during a month’s loan where I don’t think we won any he started & then as soon as he went back we started winning & stayed up
