BARNSLEY boss Keith Hill is in “no rush” to recruit two new loan signings, but is hopeful of doing some deals before next Thursday’s loan deadline.

Manchester City’s Israel international midfielder Gai Assulin and Rochdale’s 22-year-old midfielder Joe Thompson have both been linked with Oakwell, with Hill having tried to entice both players on loan earlier in the season.

But Hill stressed to The Star: “There’s a few rumours flying about who I’m going to sign, but I don’t really know where they come from.

“It’s the usual suspects I’ll be looking at it, but I’m not in any great rush because we’ve got until next week to sign players.

“I think it’s going to be too soon to get players in before Saturday’s match, but hopefully next week we’ll be able to do something.”

The Reds have Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater and Derby County midfielder Miles Addison on loan until the New Year.

But with striker Andy Gray one booking away from a suspension, Hill wants to bolster his squad with another striker and utility player, preferably someone who can play in different midfield positions.

Middlesbrough loan winger Cameron Park left the club early after illness hampered his chances of making a name for himself.

“Cameron was unlucky but there’s no doubting he’s a fabulous young talent,” added Hill. “He’s an unbelievable prospect and we’ve learnt a lot from him.”
