Motson: "He'll have to get used to this"
Why John, don't they have the offside rule in France?

Then he goes and scores - "And that was the way Harry Redknapp planned it!"

Thought Motty was going to explode towards the end of that one, his voice went up a couple of octaves. :D

He was on 5 live at lunchtime telling the most boring anecdote I've ever heard about the pitch being too muddy at the old Baseball Ground to see the penalty spot so they had to paint it on during the game and I literally thought he'd climaxed on air he got so excited when the story reached its dull conclusion

I've heard that one, handy if you can't sleep though. He did an 'Evening With' at the Lamproom acouple of years back and that must have been excruciating. Someone on here rightly said Barry Davies would have been a far more entertaining subject as he at least spoke out honestly against the BBC and the FA rather than being their little pet dog in a sheepskin coat.

I really like Barry Davies. Far better commentator and some of his stories about working on the Olympics are proper interesting. Motson is gratingly tedious.

He was probably on about the speed of the Prem compared of the French leagues. Or something.

To be fair, I have seen the video clip of that incident and it is quite entertaining, watching the confused players and ref trying to place the ball on the right spot, followed by a bloke running on with a tape-measure and a bucket of white paint.
