I fear this Olympics will be disappointing for Team GB. Their performance in Beijing was truly extraordinary, but this has raised expectations. The opposition have improved, many of the heros of 2008 are past their best, and the pressure from the home crowd might be too much for some. Getting half the medals we got there would be impressive, especially considering the woeful performances of the 1990s.

However, the most disappointing thing about London 2012 is the rampant commercialism, and cronyism associated with the Olympic 'family'. The sight of so many empty seats sickens me when many thousands of people prepared to pay for tickets were unable to get one. Why so many empty seats? Sponsors and nameless Blazer-wearing 'officials', who get chauffeured around on private motorway lanes, are allocated thousands of prime seats, and can't even be arsed to show up. And what have they done to earn such a privilege? **** knows. Just as bad as the crooks at Fifa.

Agree about the corporate no-shows, it would appear the Olympic powers are taking it far more seriously than football ever has.

Any empty seats should be opened up to the public after 30 minutes, but I doubt the olympic officials will allow it for 'their' tickets.

Looking forward to seeing some new stars. Difficult when the chinese are growing them in a lab.
