Reaction to one defeat is unbelievable. Wednesday night showed what the team and the Manager are capable off but that kind of performance will not happen every week as once again following a change of Manager we have had to build a new (this time correctly a young) team for the future. Surely we need to accept as fans we will have days like today and despite the disapointment continue to get behind the Manager, team and board as the long term plan on this occasion needs to be a plan that is given more than 12 months to pay off.
'We were rubbish yesterday'. Sorry, just thought I would do half a dozen people a favour and post their balanced view for them. I agree, by the way.
Days like yesterday happen, I get that, but there happening far too often! Lee Jay has my total backing for the duration of this season regardless of results and performances. As regards whether he is the man for the job, well he talks very elequently and appears to have positive ideas but talk is easy, can he deliver his ideas? From his appointment to where we are now has been poor. The jury is out as far as i'm concerned. Lots of debate about definitions regarding opinions and facts on here recently but i will tell you a Stonewall Fact. No additions to the squad before deadline day will extinguish any thoughts of promotion this Season.
I know your intent and most people here want the same things. You will have to suffer even more now you have a ST lol. We want them to do well and your right there is a lot do do and we are far from the finished article right now. I'll still believe and will take a positive view and see how it strengthens or weakens through the season. I'm sure we will have more 'Bradford' performances, I don't expect many 'Rochdale' ones, but hope we get more ' Millwall' ones.
The thing is that Johnson said at the start of the season there would be ups and downs. We had an up on Wednesday and have been generally on an upward curve sInce the Chesterfield defeat. Yesterday we had a down, but people are overreacting
They haven't been on an upward curve at all. The last three games I have been to since the Chesterfield were equally inept. The difference is that until yesterday the opposition didn't punish us due to misfortune (Burton) and being almost as bad as we are (Bradford). You can come on here in April telling people they need to be patient - evidence so far suggests that patience will not be rewarded.
No I agree there was no overreacting about the result, but posts questioning whether Johnson knows what he's doing after this game is an overreaction imo
Well I would call 2 wins and a draw an upward curve, albeit a small one At the end of the day, all that matters is the result and the points
If we continue to play like we did against Bradford and Burton we will get more results like yesterday's or against Chesterfield. When you can't muster one shot in an entire game you've got problems.
I agree but they are far from the worst teams in this division. Nonetheless we need to improve. We've proved we can play well, we just need to do it more often and I am confident that with time we will do
Johnson keep's saying that he is trying to implement a certain playing style but it will take time and possibly 2 to 3 transfer windows to get right. If the style is akin to what we saw the other night and fans can see gradual improvement towards that then he will get the time required regardless of results. However no other game under johnson's admittedly short reign has come close to that game. In fact no other game has indicated thats the style he wants to play, and if the tedious, unentertaining style of boring teams and fans alike to death in the hope of winning 1 0 is johnson's actual philosophy then he will find himself under pressure very soon.
People aren't reacting to one result. They're reacting to only one good performance in 5 league games & what to most of us seems like a pretty terrible transfer window apart from the 2 centre backs. And what's the long term plan? 4 loanees in that team yesterday, all we're after is a quick fix back to the championship
