Hill said: “I feel educated. Mido is an exceptional person. “He is somebody who has played at the highest level in most leagues in Europe. He’s fallen partway down the footballing tree. I thought we could reinstate him and I put a lot of effort in to the deal. “I ignored a lot of people because I thought we were both going to resurrect his career. But every player has got to be compatible with what we are trying to achieve. It just hasn’t happened. “We’re going to pursue different directions.”
“We’re going to pursue different directions.” Please let ours not be "down". I'd happily settle for "sideways" at this point.
I don't know the private details of why we're getting shut but if it is weight and fitness related then don't we have a case of breach of contract and therefore the right to dismiss him? It really grates on me that we're having to negiotiate a settlement with his representative.
He were fat to start with and fat to finish with Mario its not has though he clapped it all on whilst training here in pieland.
No I understand he was out of shape when he arrived but if the expectation was that in return for a contract and a wage he got fit and in shape within an agreed timescale then he has broken the terms of the contract.
Not sure about the contract etc, but I honestly thought he'd put every effort into getting fit, simply because I couldnt see why else he'd come here to Barnsley, when he's clearly from a wealthy background in Egypt. But money aside, he's the one losing out here too, he's chucked away his only chance of rebuilding a career that barely got off the ground in the first place.
And the fact we had to bring in a replacement on short notice and give a years contract to, also adding to the cost.
I'm surprised he can't just be sacked for gross misconduct after publicly stating his desire for people to be burnt.
I'm not sure why he struggled to shift the weight if he were determined to do so. I guess his heart was simply not in it. It's also worth pointing out that he did get an injury very early on, which did not help. However, a change in diet is more the issue I would suggest.
How do you know he hasn't? To do it publicly would invite legal action that we can ill afford. If he'd banged in 10 goals, the club might have found a way around it.
Hill says it's amicable and that they're discussing it with his representatives which doesn't suggest he's been fired, it suggests that they are discussing a compensation package for cancelling his contract.
