Having worked in Iraq It was evident to anyone with any knowledge of the country that it could only be held together by a dictatorship. The problems re. shia and sunnis goes back centuries and coupled with that there is the Kurdish problem. Blair and Bush can't have consulted any 'arabists' in the Foreign Office or State Department, and if they did they should be considered war criminals. The result of this war will be many more deaths, and the eventual break-up of Iraq into three sections. The shia section will become part of Greater Iran, and the other sections will continue with their internal and external squabbling.
I believe it will be the only way that the fighting can be concluded. The problem then will be a larger more powerful Iran which already has claims on Bahrain.
Why are we still in Iraq? Very simple question. http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/01/08/iraq-oil.html
watch this.... ok, so it's essentially a stand up routine, but is well worth watching http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7374585792978336967
RE: watch this.... Seen that before, very funny and informative - worth a watch. Interesting about WWII and the Berlin to Baghdad railway........
Cival War would obviously result if we pulled out. Itd be free for all. after 4 years of trying to form a Democracy theres no point in giving up now. As any soldier would say. its a bit hot/cold, boring/hectic, muddy/dusty though.
