It seems ages since our last home league game against Gillingham. Hopefully, the lads who were a bit behind the others with regards to fitness (Turnbull, Treacy, Lita) will have closed the gap somewhat during the international break, along with others possibly returning from injury (Bailey, Smith).
As they've consistently been there or thereabouts the past few seasons with regards to the Play Offs, MK Dons could present a decent indication of where the newly assembled squad are at, what progress has or hasn't been made and how much progress will still be needed.

Unfortunately I was hearing that Smith will be out for quite some time yet (near Christmas) with his injury being a fair bit worse than first expected. It's a shame really as if he has the same positive impact as Abbott and the young lad Bree from his limited time we will have a very talented young crop! That's not to mention Digby, Nana, Oates and Maris.

I agree, Saturday is the first real test of our Play Off credentias and aspirations. Hopefully, we'll come through with flying colours and keep the momentum that we're building up.

Sad to hear that about young Smith. When I've seen him playing for the U21's, youth team and the quick glimpse in a pre season friendly, he's looked efficient. Still, it's better not to rush him back too soon.

Me too. First home game this season, due to $hit planning.

    Me n all, Kev.

Not been since Crawley at Oakwell!

I'm looking forward to meeting my pals, seeing a few lads and lasses I usually see out and about, having a few drinks, a growler in Redfearn's, seeing how we cope against a side with four consecutive clean sheets, and it'll also be good to welcome home Antony Kay after 7 years. Three points too wouldn't go amiss. :)

I've enjoyed what I've seen so far. Even during those two initial home games we lost, I could see the team were trying to play football in the right way. It may not always have come off, but at least they were trying. Creating a squad of players, then getting them to play a passing, winning, easy on the eye style of football doesn't happen overnight. There'll be occasions in the short term when it fails, either with the style or the winning. This can certainly be a frustrating period, until we reach the required consistency. But that's where the patience of the fans will be needed, especially with such a young squad of players. I apologise for persistently beating the drum of patience, tolerance and understanding, but I feel it's necessary if we're to achieve any long term success, both as a club and team.

Preaching to the converted, pal. I fully endorse your post though.

MK will be a step up for us in terms of what we've come up against so far. But I'd be disappointed if we didn't turn em over, such is my faith in Danny and his band of merry men.

Well said BigLil. I agree, patience is the key. I too am looking forward to Saturday, and the rest of the season.

I expect them to provide stern opposition to us. But I hope we'll provide stern opposition to them, too. The result will not make or break our season.

Yes, I agree it will be a stern test, and give a gauge as to where we are based on teams that have been in top 10 the last few years in L1. It won;t though be the end of the world if we don't win though ... I can only see us getting better

I feel we're beginning to connect more as one entity with regards to the club. That is to say the manager, playing squad, his staff, boardroom & commercial side and the majority of the fans. There's still a long way to go with some, but at least we appear to be moving in the right direction. You'll rarely appease everyone all the time, though. However, it's good to hear a lot of fans saying how much they're looking forward to watching an upcoming game.

True. Then again, MK Dons have to try and stop Cole, Hemmings, Lita, Winnall & Hourihane.

Looking forward to this one myself as it's my first game at Oakwell since the loss to Sheffield W. in December 2012.
It's great to follow Barnsley at the moment, and I'm really hoping to experience a win :-D

In that case, I hope you see a performance and result similar to the one we had against Gillingham, mate. However, if we don't get it, then you have to shoulder the responsibility!:D

Looking forward to it, just hoping my surprise inflatable for the Ponte arrives by Saturday. And no it's not a blow up doll. I will be in Redfearn's from 1.30pm if anyone wants a drink, on me tod this week. I'll be the one stood on his own screaming at Birmingham to get a 4th v Leeds on big screen.

Really looking forward to this. My first game this season.

Coming up on Friday for the weekend.

A few pints in The Miners and 3 points will make it all the more enjoyable.
