cheap, cheerful, warm and family friendly, got 3 kids, one of which will be only 2.

Any suggestions would greatly appreciated, especially from your own personal experience

Alcudia in Majorca they say is very family orientated and if you shop around you should get a reasonable price somewhere, only a couple hours on plane too.

Cala n Bosch in Menorca. Everything on your doorstep. Aquarock water park within walking distance too, and depending on your hotel/apartment group, may be free entry. We've been 3 times with our kids in last 10 years, they're now 11 and 15. Restaurants all around the marina, 2 nice beaches, and regular buses to Mahon and Ciutadella. Hire a car and you can be anywhere on the island within an hour. Very child friendly.

I'd back up the Alcudia suggestion. Very family friendly, used to love it there as a child myself :)
