If butterfield left and the fee was set by tribunal i would hope that fee could be made public and not the now familiar "Undisclosed".

I hope the fee is set by a tribunal they might do a better job than Don. Might actually get a true reflection of his actual value. Lets be honest Don would have let him go for £250k!!

me too,I hope he turns into the premier league player he thinks he is...........on the other hand can you you blame him, more money and probably more ambition,,,some of US get sick of hearing about how we are overachieving,so it must get the players down aswell.

The fee that Rotherham received for Ryan Taylor was set by tribunal and they received more than they would have asked for so it's probably worth it.

I don't think any club would undervalue its players and if people are think of Adam Hammill we were stiffed by the clause in his contract.

    Inevitable really.
We cant compete with 23 clubs in our division, so we certainly cant fend off the Greed League.
I have enjoyed watching the lad, and wish him well in his next move. I wouldnt mind seeing him go to a decent club, and coming back to us on loan. Think Id be pressing for that if I was King Keith.
We have missed a few lads since January, but none more than Butts. He is exactly what we are bereft of - a two-footed maestro that pulls the strings and gets us playing the game we enjoy watching, as well as a goal-scorer, goal-maker.
No offence to Hill's current rag tag midfield, but they struggle to make 3 yard passes, and are more of a threat to our own goal.
Im so insouciant right now. Big summer rebuild ahead. Will I renew to watch stage 2? Not unless they drop the price.
Slash the **** out of transfer/wage budgets, sell our decent players, BUT expect me to pay the same amount? Aye, good luck Don

I don't think he's Premiership quality, plenty of years ahead of him though. I'd put him in the rank of Hammill, top 8 championship player.

I think it would be best for his career to stay for another season. But I doubt he can see that and at 21, will go to the team that offers the highest wages.

We should get more for him at a Tribunal than if Don Rowing was left in charge of negotiations so in many ways would rather see him leave.

Don't like the name you've given him, "buttercup". However, I do think he has a big opinion of himself for lets face it less than a season ago he was keeping the bench warm, and considered an impact player. Trouble is today. the Sky money has attracted these moths to the Premier, and where do they finish up, initially on the bench, then the reserves and then on oan to Bury, Exeter and the like.

100%+ wage increase, playing at a bigger club (there are at least 40 out there) in front of bigger crowds...
    OR
    Stay at Oakwell...
    .
    As I said - inevitable

Can you blame him, or football players in general? They have a career which lasts 15 years if they are lucky. This career has been their focus since their early teens to the neglect of schoolwork. They are almost universally thick as f*ck with no qualifications to fall back on and no obvious career path beyond the age of 34. I'd maximise my income whilst I could in that position.

    That statement is flawed though.
Footballers do still work after the finish playing. They do not retire from life, just from playing football. There are no rules that say they can only earn money when they are playing and they have to work for free when they finish playing!

i agree they give so much of there lifes at a young age

25 years really.3/4 nights a week at united training ground stright after school. having to eat differently to friends at 12/13 years old.

but they arent thick. for example, Paul Digbys doing extended course at oakwell which is equal to 4 A levels and hes playing football.
Not sure how he fits it in to 24 hours and goes out with mates.
