League of his own: Heskey to be offered a comeback - in the Conference

Table-topping Macclesfield have contacted the free-agent former England striker about helping them return to the Football League

Ambitious Macclesfield want Emile Heskey to help them back into the Football League at the first attempt.

Boss Steve King has made an approach for the 62-times capped England striker, who is currently out of work and lives only half an hour from the Cheshire club.

King’s team are already top of the Conference, but he is willing to push the boat out to offer Heskey, 34, an open-ended deal if he wants to stay fit and put himself in the shop window.

Former Leicester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Wigan star Heskey – free since he left Aston Villa at the end of last season – has had other offers at home and abroad.

 

He could still do a job at our level so be a fantastic signing for macclesfield would be amazing for them. Long as they dont need a goalscorer but someone to hold ball up. He would be good at blackburn with rhodes to his right.
