Fifa ramping up the pressure to play it in Winter

The whole thing is a farce and almost certainly corrupt - I assume there were better bids from countries planning to play it in the summer as that was a condition at the time but the bid given to a "country" which is plainly unsuitable for many reasons - the temperature being just one of them

Now we will "solve" the temperature problem by screwing the entire footballing worlds established schedules
and you have to think that was always the plan - so the whole bid was dishonest - it should be re-done and given to a proper contender

True, the whole thing has appeared dodgy right from the "announcement day". That statement from Blatter that day - "it was always our intention to take it to somewhere new" - should have led to an instant refund to English FA for all monies spent on what was in effect a non bid.

Football screwed over, as you say.

That one should have gone to Australia, it would have fitted in nicely with the 'sharing it around the FIFA family' mantra and would have given a big boost to a growing sport in the country. But no, we're off to the desert to play in a country with little discernable appetite for the game. Usually FIFA and indeed football authorities in general do whatever they want and the consquences are felt by only the fans. This time the consequences will be felt by an entire continent's leagues. Great stuff.

Might be a better world cup if we have it in the winter. Just about all the quality players in the world play in the European leagues. That's where the money is. When the World Cup is in the summer they've played 9 months of football and are completely shagged. Players that have ripped their leagues apart look a shadow of their former selves. That's if they're not injured. During the winter they're at the top of their form. They've had a few months to get in to it, but they're still fresh. We might see some better football.

Makes me pretty angry reading that.

    Sensible?

    F uck right off.

FIFA sold the world cup to Qatar, due to corruption. A ridiculous decision made by an organisation rotten to its very core. They should now live with the consequences.
