Quote from sunday Mirrorafter sat Barnsley boss Simon Davey and his No.2 Ryan Kidd were desperate to put one over Davies, the man who showed them both the door at Deepdale when he went to manage Preston.
It'd be interesting to find out why Davies got rid of them both. Rumours of not getting on with their staff.
Would have thought it's pretty common to bring in your own team when you takeover as a manager - I think Paul Simpson did the same when he took over as manager at Preston. I wouldn't read too much into that
Give them a year then get rid - all sorts of reasons why it could have happened - and yes being crap might have been one of them. The journalist was looking at an angle to write the story from

It wasn't as if they were working with Davies on a daily basis either, they weren't anywhere near the first team. (chinny)
For what its worth I saw S.Davey and Marc Richards the day after Marc had been to Port Vale for talks. They were laughing and joking like two mates. They stood together for the first half of a friendly match. No signs at all of any anomosity.Football is a different industry to most and I think half the time fans are looking for something thats not there.
Davies wanted them out of the way as he felt they were a threat to his own position. Preston fans have a lot of time for Simon - you only have to look at how they acknowledged him at Oakwell earlier in the season to see that.
RE: The only people that know the reasons are I've explained what happened before - heard from a guy that's in with people at Preston - Davies was worried that Davey was a threat to his job so got rid while he could. The guy wouldn't have made it up - he says it's common knowledge now in Preston.
RE: The only people that know the reasons are If that's the case, then I personally think he was worrying unduly.
I would have thought the first team manager wouldn't have that much influence to get the academy manager the sack, wouldn't be dealing with him on a daily basis or owt. Plus they'd just got to the play-off final, lost admittedly, but they hadn't exactly splashed the cash to do it.
