Lopata has played 1 league minute in the last 12 games. Be daft to get him into the team for something as important as the play offs. I would definitely hope he's here over McCart next season though. I really want to see James given a go because in the appearances he has played in the first team he's looked really good, hopefully see more of him next season perhaps.

The regulation that article refers to is not clear:

Regulation 53.1.4 states: “A player whose standard loan expires (or terminates) at the end of the season of the transferee club but prior to the completion of the league matches of his parent club (where it is a member club) will not be eligible to play in any remaining league matches in that season.”

Are play-off games counted as league matches? Any goals players score in them aren't counted as league goals.

But neither lopata nor Shepherd are good enough ones just been relegated with Cheltenham and the other couldn't get in vales side. Instead of signing those 2 last summer we should have made one signing who could play a part for us. This is why people are getting sick of the recruitment same as Shaw and dallas pointless signings.

Agree about James though could be good next season and the lad who's been on loan at mk dons.

I've always said I don't mind the signings of non-league, as long as they're not impacting our chances of a quality first teamer. I have no idea whether they did have an impact on it or not. Shepherd was literally peanuts so he won't have had any. Lopata would have cost a little more, but also not a substantial amount and they're both still young enough (in the case of Shepherd shown enough), to improve with better coaching/training. Dallas & Shaw I have a problem with because I think it was fairly obvious to even normal fans like us they weren't good enough, even if we as fans tried to support & give them time. Lopata, James & Shepherd have all had good glimpses, and it doesn't particularly bother me they got relegated because Helik, Andersen, Morris, etc all got relegations on their CV too. I think it's perhaps been magnified because signings all the fan base were happy with in Russell & Cosgrove, have been well below good enough for us at present, or injured, ala Pines.

Lofthouse definitely looks like a talent, I agree mate. Perhaps he's going to replace Williams if he moves on. I suppose it all depends on what league we are in.

They're our players. Good players. Shipped out on loan by an inept head coach.

Yogonathan is another who could be breaking into the 1st team next season but again we need players who have experience at this level or similar. I know what your saying with them not costing much but we sold 9million pounds worth of defenders and replaced them with 2x non league players a loan from Rotherham and a bloke from the French 2nd division.

Pines looked a good player and I think Earl will be a good signing but the recruitment hasn't been great it's like we're still looking to make profits on every player.

They're not good players currently, the only half decent player shipped out was Styles.

Given how often we've been involved in the play offs, you'd have thought folks would be aware of the rules by now. It gets asked every time. I even remember the question being asked about whether John Curtis could stay on for the 2000 play offs!

In standard loan conditions, players are not eligible to return for the play offs, and players on loan in the regular season are eligible to play in the play offs.

The bizarre exception was Dike, for whom we negotiated a deal that expired before the play offs (presumably because we never dreamt we'd make them), and had to then negotiate an extension to cover the play offs. That was because the US season was due to restart as we were playing them.

Even styles who many thought would tear this league a new one looked poor under Collins. I agree with you about the others not been good enough, it's the scatter gun approach Shaw, dallas, lopata, Shepherd, mccart. 5 pointless signings there who we've paid but had no impact or little on the season.

Thing is, I think all those signings imo were made for next season's division one campaign.
