Are they actually taught to use their mirrors and blind spots?! **** me blind. Literally thought me and my son were goners. Whilst stuck in a traffic jam on the A1, Mr. Lorry driver thinks it's okay to pull into my lane whilst I'm alongside of it! Had to speed up whilst slamming on at the same time so I didn't hit the back of the car infront just because that ****wit didn't bother looking. Still shaking now!

Really? Don't long vehicles have to have "blind spot" mirrors nowadays (like cars do when they towing a caravan)?

While appreciating your close call, I have to say that i find lorry/HGV drivers a thousand times safer than the majority of car drivers. Had one close call with a lorry pulling out suddenly on the motorway. Lost count of the number of times I've had close calls with cars, usually those with a powerful engine and no f**king inidcators.

It is always important to remember that if a truck driver sticks on his right indicator it gives him the divine right to overtake. I witnessed one of these knights of the road take 17 miles on the A19 to overtake one of his compatriots.

Ah yes. BMWs / Audis etc - optional extras include bluetooth, SatNav, heated seats and indicators. Always thought that.

That's because they have speed limiters on them that are set at 55 mph so they end up going the same speed, next time you drive anywhere try sticking to the same speed and see how long it takes you to get past anything !!

even with blind spot mirrors you still do have blindspots.

thats why alot of wagons say on the back if you cant see my mirrors i cant see you.

To be fair I've always had a soft spot for lorry drivers.

    Bus drivers...
Those who drive certain makes of German cars
    Lads between 17 and 21

They are a lot worse drivers than the above.

Same thing happened to me a month or so ago on the M1 near Wakefield. He went to overtake me, realised he couldn't, because they're all limited so he had a margin of perhaps 1-2mph, so I slowed down to let him get past. Just decided that he would pull over whilst I was at the side of him, no indication or anything. I had to swerve onto the hard shoulder, whilst blasting the horn and flashing my lights. In my fury I forgot to take note of the company of the lorry, and realised I couldn't 'gesture' to him alongside as they are like 8 foot in the air. He came over at a fair pace too, if I wasn't on the ball he would have crushed me.

Still, suppose he's human, we all drop em..

It was after he was kicked off the train for not having a ticket, called in at the blue oyster bar for a pint and hitchhiked home with a driver called Larry.

And in My experience the letters B M W written on the back...

We do tend to have a problem with Left hand Drive lorries down here they do seem particularly prone to not seeing the car alongside them though

To be fair, lorry drivers overall are probably the best drivers on the road, anyone who has driven a large vehicle will know it is very difficult on busy modern roads with so many other road users ducking and diving all over the place. Most drivers are very professional...don't forget they're livelihood depends on it,having said that even good professionals sometimes make mistakes,
just be thankful you had the prescence of mind to do the right thing.
