So it looks pretty inevitable that Brownhill won't be staying with us. At the end of the day there's nothing we can do about it; he's not our player

But if, as rumoured, we sign Moncur, would people be happy with this as a replacement for Brownhill?

I think they're probably of similar quality, and similar positions. Besides we're pretty strong in the centre of the park anyway with Scowen, McCourt etc. so I think it would be a good outcome

Brownhill is a better player than Moncur. He has top Championship potential and would much prefer him than Moncur.

The thing we all know for an 100% certainty is that Hecky and Ben will be trying their absolute best to sign him. If he doesn't stay then he didn't want to obviously and we couldn't have done anything more so we have to move on.

We have a plan and a philosophy in place these days so whatever happens I trust the guys to do what's best because after all look what we just witnessed on Sunday? That wouldn't of happened because of blind luck as we all know so basically if Josh doesn't play another game for us then let's move on because the player they bring in to replace him will be as good i'm sure of it.

Latest update is that the Brownhill deal is going through fast and Preston already planning on spending the money (Nixon on Twitter).

So looks like he's gone. He was one of Johnsons boys so understand it and not too gutted.

But no I don't think he can be replaced by Moncur. Very different players. Brownhill covers a lot of ground breaking up play and intercepting balls. Think Moncur is more a behind the front two type player. Although saying that Conor and Brownhill both came in as attacking midfielders and really developed the defensive side.

I think brownhill is better than moncur, but I don't think moncur is the guy we're speaking to today

Moncur is a much more attack minded player than Brownhill. They're very different players. Moncur can play off the strikers or either wing. He can play a striker role too.

He would be stifled and wasted if asked to play the same role as Brownhill who has been very disciplined for us playing a deeper role.

Brownhill is good but getting him signed up will have been way down our list of priorities for next season. Plus we've lots of cover in his position and getting into a bidding war with Brizzle and maybe standing a chance of signing him would have been much less money to spend elsewhere in the squad. Moncur, McCourt or get Scowen back where he's suppose to be. Brownhill doesn't play in a problem position for us.

Gutted we're not signing Brownhill (if true). Has brought balance to our midfield, does lots of dirty work and must have the lungs of a horse, given the shift he puts in every week. Hope we sign somebody with similar traits. I like Scowen, but he's a different type of player to Brownhill and isn't the answer imho.
