    Hi folks,

Stupidly, whilst getting my disabled brother into the car, I put my new phone onto the roof, and I think I've driven off with it on the roof. I knew I'd done it pretty much straight away, and went back to the disabled space where I was parked, to find nothing.

Someone must have picked it up.

The phone is a OnePlus One (you probably haven't heard of it) and looks like this, in a blue flip case.

I have tried ringing it since, and it rings out. I don't have a tracker app for it, but the phone is receiving GPS signal.

I am ringing 101 to report it lost, and the Football Club know that it has gone.

If ANYONE knows anything, please let me know!!

    Thanks folks :(

I'm really sorry that you've lost your phone, but you have to admit that is absolutely hilarious!

If it's Android and getting a gps signal it should be traceable surely? Do you not have Avast, Lookout or some similar security app on there?

Sorry to hear that Andy. Phones are so much more than just phones these days, they're so full of personal stuff that I imagine its a nightmare to lose it. I hope somebody honest finds it and gives it back.

I found an iPhone a few months ago and reunited it with its owner the next day so it can happen. Fingers crossed.

Blimey, lighten up! I did a similar thing last year in a supermarket car park - drove off with the boot open in a storm, and only realised near the exit when half my food had fallen out. It was a bit of a ball ache to rescue it all but there was definitely a funny side to be seen. Once I'd dried myself off.

I just hope it was picked up by the sort of person who'll realise how much it is worth and want to return it to its owner, not the sort who would like to think how much they can get for it.

It's incredible how differently people view the value of a mobile phone; you'd never dream of stealing a car, hand bag or piece of jewellery worth £400-£500 but some people never think twice about claiming a phone they've found as their own. We found an Iphone a few years ago on new years eve, and although we couldn't get into it to try call someone who'd know the girl who's phone it was, we spent the best part of 2 hours out on the street where we could get a signal on it incase someone tried to call it. The young girl was very grateful that we had as she wasn't from the area and was just staying with her sister for new years.

Yeah but you'd lost a bit of food (that you managed to rescue) not an expensive phone with possible sentimental pictures on.

Honestly, I didn't mean to cause any offence and in no way am I belittling the loss of the phone - it's an absolutely shitty thing to happen. I was just pointing out that the circumstances are rather slapstick to say the least. Apologies if it didn't come across as it was meant to.

I did this last year, had been messing around in the engine bay, left the phone on the engine, drove off for a test drive and the n thought oh blocks!
luckily a bloke found it and managed to ring one of my contacts to let me know he'd found it! I felt a right wally when I picked it up off him!

Thanks for your messages folks! :)

The thieves weren't all that smart! Didn't turn it off, so it was tracked and the police (finally) retrieved it on Sunday Evening. I was very lucky, and I'm very grateful for getting it back.

Thanks for your concern guys! :) YOU REDS! :D
