Not his fault, poor fella. Put up by Gord 'cos he was cheap and it meant, as we're seeing, that all the vitriol is directed at thedugout rather than the directors' box. Appointed horribly ahead of his time - no doubt a decent coach, but clearly not a manager and as a result of Gord's rash decision, unlikely to make any headway in either career.

Good point but! He doesnt help himself with the way he conducts himself in radio interviews. He comes across as a very petty, vindictive toward his players and never wrong.
As I said.... .....coach yes, manager?? Never!! He's busking it 24/7 - bases post-match interviews on what he's heard other spouting on Sky and MOTD. I'm sure he's a terrific bloke, who loves the game to bits, but he's in wayyyyyy out of his depth & floundering badly. All Gordon's fault.
I think the mood towards Davey is deteriorating because of his bizarre selections and tactical decisions, which seem to be an ongoing feature of his management, and the fact that there are obvious signs of dressing room unrest, which seem to be getting worse. This is nothing to do with GS' decision to appoint him, its Davey's own decision-making now being questioned. Consequently, people who were previously prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt are becoming frustrated and impatient. The obvious ones are his persistence with Mattis and his treatment of Kay, but there are numerous other examples already. I hated the fact he'd been appointed, but believed he deserved a chance to prove himself. However, I've yet to see a display that was any better than those we saw under Ritchie. Worse still is his apparent inability to see and deal with the faults that are so obvious to us that I think is the bigger problem. It reminds me of the Parkin and Hart eras all over again and I can't bear the thought of that. He's made some positive steps and I still want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I just find it very difficult to see how he's the answer to our problems. I don't agree with the personal abuse directed towards him, as ultimately he's doing his best in a situation where he doesn't seem to be up to the job. However, he's not doing himself any favours at the moment.
You speak a lot of sense mate. Also one of the reasons behind the negativity on here is that people are having to assume there are training ground and dressing room bust ups and that players are out of favour because the club is saying absolutely nothing. Shep wont do interviews, Cryne grins politely and Davey is dour and wont answer straight questions. Its a poor state of affairs.
