It just shows how many lives he touched and how much he meant to people.

Heartbreaking day for everyone involved with the Club, for everyone with that affinity to the Reds and as you say, look at the messages for him. Speaks volumes, a true measure of the great man.

Am I right in thinking (and this is without research) that he was a player,coach,physio,kit man,groudsman and laundryman in his time at Oakwell?

 

Odd job man and pest control to add to that.

 

There's a compelling antidote provided by the affection displayed on twitter by young players for the passing of a traditional elderly footballing statesman, to the other thread about "depressing tales" of our age.

"Tales" seems to be appropriate for Mr Rimmington, by the way the players are tweeting. He told them footballing tales, and it seems they went down well with them all.

There's hope for us all.

 

Lump in your throat time, reading those tributes from current and ex Barnsley players.

An indication of their high regard for the man.

Be nice to hear more comments from the 80s guys like Mick McCarthy, Norman Hunter, Alan Clarke etc. It's a measure of the man he is that guys that haven't been here for over twenty years or didn't spend very long here were still touched enough by him to keep him in their thoughts today and say some lovely words about him.

Didn't know him.
But the comments from ex-players just reinforces and personifies what is special about Barnsley - it's not the place itself, because much of it could be described as a dump - but it's the character of the people in Barnsley that make it that special sort of place.
And watching and listening to Norman in those film clips just proves it.
