Tresor Lomana Lua Lua has been charged with improper conduct by The Football Association after comments made towards referee Uriah Rennie.

The Portsmouth striker was upset with the official's performance during the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham in a recent Sky Monday night football encounter at White Hart Lane.

Lua Lua actually put Pompey ahead in the game, Harry Redknapp's first of his second reign at Fratton Park, but Spurs hit back and took the lead with a controversial penalty awarded for handball against Gary O'Neil when Andy Reid's fierce free kick struck him.

The former Newcastle striker is Portsmouth's chief attacking threat, he hit the woodwork in the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday, and a suspension would be a major blow for Redknapp as he bids to move the South Coast side up the table.

"It does not help when the referee is playing for the other team," he said after the Spurs defeat.

"It should never have been a penalty and, if it was not for that decision, I think we would have got something from the game."

He has until January 17 to respond to the charge and decide whether he wants to launch an appeal.
