went to see Kettering v Histon yesterday. Kettering convincingly beat the conquerers of Leeds 1-0 and were down to 10 men for the last 30 mins. Really enjoyable blood n gutts stuff. Anyway, they have Luke Potter on loan for the rest of the season and he seems to be coming on a treat. Has been an ever present for them since he joined, MOM in a couple of games apparently and on yesterdays performance is quickly becoming a confident no nonsense left back. Didn't do anything spectacular but was solid and against a hugely physical team who have scored for fun this season, helped to keep a clean sheet. They want to keep him, so I think it would be a good idea to let him go on loan for a season and keep up his improvement, only 18, definitely one for the future. One point of note, after Kettering's centre half was rightly sent off for a neck high kung fu kick, Mark Cooper (manager) didn't just pull off a striker, he actually put on a new striker with a fresh pair of legs and reverted to 3 at the back. If anything they actually improved with 10 men. Can we send Simon on loan to learn his trade too.
improving, solid, confident, 1 for the future...thats him gone then we only sign ***** mate, and if its not then we rapidly school it out of them.
sadly..... I reckon we'll let Kettering have him for nowt cos Davey don't rate him. Kettering will end up in League 2, if not this season then next, he'll get spotted and a Championship team will give Kettering half a million for him within a couple of years. Meanwhile we'll be playing Kettering in the Paint Cup. See you brought me down to your level
RE: improving, solid, confident, 1 for the future...thats him gone then My cat has been prescribed anti-depressants this morning do you want me to send you some? You always seem to look on the dark side, come on give us a
RE: ok That's better! Happy Grandad not Grumpy Grandad. I promise you we will stay up, but if we do it worries me that we'll never get rid of Simple Simon and that makes me want the cats prozac
Guy Branston... ...was the centre half sent off I think. Potter would do well to learn a bit about uncompromising defending from him - but obviously do it a bit more cleverly!
Was he? Last time I saw him he was a big, slow, gormless lummocks, who didn't use his physique and got pushed off the ball too easily.
RE: Was he? last time and only time he played for us was nearly 2 years ago in the 7-0 party at West Brom when none of his team mates and not even us there gave a toss, we were staying up. At his age ability changes rapidly and on the evidence so far he is well worthy of a chance. Maybe its easy to look good at that level and in a winning team too, Kettering have W4 and D2 of the 6 league games he's played in, conceding only 2 goals. But hey, you're probably right, he must be **** (chinny)
